Soroptimist International of Metropolitan Sacramento Soroptimist International of Metropolitan Sacramento is a nonprofit service club affiliated with Soroptimists International.

We are part of a worldwide organization for women in management and professions working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Pizza Night fundraiser. A delightful time was had by all. Watching the pizza chef was very educational and entertaining, even for those who had pizza dough thrown at them.
And we were wonderfully entertained by Carol Voyles. What a life story!

I think we will have made about $3000 for the Grants and Service fund. We also received a scholarship to give away to a deserving student to help her launch a culinary career. And many of us brought home our left over pizza creations - what could be better?

SIMS awarded a record $9,000 in Live Your Dream Scholarships last week! Thank you, SIMS members, for your generosity and for your work to help raise these scholarship funds.

Thanks also to the LYD committee of Mary Chilcote (chair), Jacquie Embs and Lois Van Beers. They were very pleased to have five women apply for the Live Your Dream (LYD) scholarship. On Saturday, January 18, a panel of two, Sheree Meyer, retired CSUS Dean, and Loretta Rennert, last year’s LYD recipient, interviewed four candidates.

This spring, both first place recipients will participate in a SIMS meeting to talk with us about their lives and their aspirations!

Children’s Choice for Hearing and Testing (CCHAT)
Stephanie Papa’s and Sharon Boatwright presented a SIMS grant check for $1,300 to CCHAT Executive Director Scott Levin and Lucia Green, development director, who provided a tour for Stephanie and Sharon. We should be super proud to support the work they do! The funds will be used to provide NICU hearing tests.
