Ghanaian Association of Sacramento

Ghanaian Association of Sacramento Ghanaian Association of Sacramento, California (GAS) was founded in 1992. Our membership is for everyone with the desire to partake.

It is a non- profit organization dedicated to helping Ghanaian families live full and productive lives here in Northern California. Over the years, GAS has succeeded in becoming Northern California’s most recognized Ghanaian organization with unparalleled stature in the promotion, education and sharing of the rich Ghanaian culture with individuals, groups and other organizations. GAS has built its

strengths from the hard work and dedication of its members by creating a social environment conducive to the teaching and learning of Ghanaian culture and traditions to GAS children and anyone who is interested in Ghanaian affairs. In addition, the association works collaboratively with outreach and community service organizations in providing needed services to members of our adopted community as well as Ghanaians back home. For the past few years, the association has supported the Loaves and Fishes organization in feeding the poor and have been a contributor to the Sacramento Food Bank. Other community service activities include cultural education at elementary and middle schools here in Sacramento. These activities are designed to enrich the cultural perspective, in-depth understanding, and appreciation of who we are as a people and a community.

Dear GAS Family
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. GAS is partnering with the Sacramento Salvation Army again this year for their *Annual Angel Tree Giving*, which is an event organized by the Salvation Army to provide Xmas gifts for the vulnerable children in our community. Due to covid-19, they have a higher number of vulnerable children this year.
*Each child is assigned a TAG, which will have the child's clothing sizes and their wished item from Santa.*
**You may choose to adopt 1 or 2 TAGs this holiday season to put a smile on child's face.*

A big thank you to all of you who signed up to adopt tags during today's meeting, but we need more kind souls to sign up.
If you would like to adopt a tag, please contact us with your name and the amount of tags you would like to adopt this year.

May God bless you all 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Good morning GAS Family,

After the recent updates on the COVID-19 crisis, our Independence day celebration this Saturday has been postponed until further notice. We are working on finding a new date for the event. This may come with an increase in cost for a Saturday. We can reschedule for a day other than a Saturday, on a Friday or Sunday. The Saturday’s for the hall is limited to 2 Saturday dates as they are fully booked til year end. We thank all those for their concern and we are greatly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused to the community, weather you were going to come or not. As this is such short notice, we are meeting as executives to decide how best to address refunds and will post an update on how to claim one later.

Please if you have any concerns, comments, etc, please feel free to reach out to me, Shawnta

Thank you,

GAS executives
