Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region

Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region We serve to empower and give a voice to the community.

The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region is a philanthropic, not-for-profit organization that provides educational, cultural, and social services and programs within the Jewish community locally and around the world. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charity and social justice). Founded more than 150 years ago by Jewish pioneers seeking peace and prosperity in a new land, the Jewish community of the Sacramento region has grown to more than 25,000 residents in a eight-county area. The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region was created in 1921 and incorporated in 1948 to connect Jews locally and globally, nurture our values, enrich our traditions, and strengthen our community through education, social action, and philanthropy. The Federation provides ways for individual Jews to participate in communal responsibility and contribute to the well-being of others.

We partnered with Artist Elizabeth Brodovsky for this year's Chalk It Up event.

The Jewish Federation & Shalom School-Shalom Together sponsored her to create this beautiful chalk art.

Children were invited to contribute their colors to the Shanah Tova frame.
We want to show our appreciation and support for Elizabeth.

Voting ends on 09/07 at 12 PM.

On Wednesday I had the honor of visiting some of the Federation's youngest donors. The Parparim class at made their Shabbat tzedaka donation to help provide Shabbat meals for our seniors through our Kosher Meal Program.

We talked about the beautiful journey of a donation from the moment one chooses to give to the lives it touches. I shared photos of the delicious meals Chef prepared each week, and the children created heartfelt cards to accompany the meals.

What a privilege it was to witness our Jewish values being lived so organically, through the amazing work is doing to help raise the children in our community.

As Jews, we carry the memory of our own journey from oppression to liberation, and we are called to stand alongside all those working toward a society rooted in justice, dignity, and freedom for all.

At the Federation, our tent is big enough to hold our entire community.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the beautiful diversity within our Jewish community and affirm that every person is created b’tzelem Elohim — in the divine image.

We celebrate those who are both Jewish and LGBTQ+, and the authenticity, resilience, and belonging you bring to our community. We celebrate you, and we celebrate with you.

We see you. We value you. And we want to make sure you can find your place under the Federation's tent.

🌈 Happy Pride Month from the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region.
