Shriners Children's Northern California is a pediatric medical center providing highly specialized care and rehabilitation to children with congenital conditions and complex medical needs regardless of the ability of the family to pay. On World Cerebral Palsy Day, we celebrate strength, resilience, and possibility in every person living with cerebral palsy. 💚
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a general term applied to many conditions that can result from a disturbance to the developing brain. CP affects muscle tone, movement and coordination. This can make it difficult for a child to control their body. Common activities like walking, standing, sitting, eating or swallowing can be challenging. 👨‍🦽
At Shriners Children’s, we provide individualized, family-centered care for children across the full spectrum of cerebral palsy, recognizing that every child’s needs and abilities are unique. 💝
