Bringing pharmacy practice directly to policymakers.

CPhA recently coordinated a visit with Senator Arreguín to Valor Compounding Pharmacy in Berkeley, providing an opportunity for the Senator to see firsthand the important role compounding pharmacies play in meeting the individualized medication needs of patients.

During the visit, the Valor team, including Pharmacist-in-Charge Alyx Tennison, shared an overview of the pharmacy’s services, discussed the role of compounding in patient care, and provided a tour of its compounding laboratories.

Connecting pharmacists and pharmacy teams with policymakers is an important part of CPhA’s advocacy efforts, helping legislators better understand the work pharmacists perform every day and the role pharmacy plays throughout California’s healthcare system.

Thank you to Senator Arreguín for taking the time to visit and learn more about pharmacy practice, and to the Valor Compounding Pharmacy team for opening their doors and representing the profession.

This year’s theme, Caring for Our Communities, celebrates what pharmacy professionals do every day: show up for their patients, provide trusted care, improve access to health services, and strengthen the communities they serve.

Throughout California, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, student pharmacists, and pharmacy teams are making a difference in countless ways, from immunizations and medication management to patient education, chronic disease care, and so much more.

This month, CPhA is proud to celebrate pharmacy professionals everywhere who care for patients, strengthen communities, and make a difference every day. 💜💚

CPhA joins the pharmacy community in remembering Dr. John F. “Jack” Schlegel, who passed away peacefully on September 24 at the age of 81.

A graduate of the University of the Pacific and USC, Dr. Schlegel devoted much of his career to pharmacy education and professional leadership. He served as CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and later as President and CEO of the American Pharmacists Association.

Throughout his career and life, Dr. Schlegel was known for his leadership, service, and commitment to bringing people together.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Priscilla, his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Dr. Schlegel, and thank you for your many years of service to the pharmacy profession.
