Located in mid-town Sacramento, Black Mothers United is a free program administered by the Center of Community Health and Well Being, Inc., and is funded by First 5 Sacramento Commission.

In January of 2014, the Center for Community Health and Well‐Being, Inc. (CCHWB) received funding from First 5 Sacramento to launch the Black Mothers United (BMU) program.BMU is a community driven and service focused care program to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes among African American women in Sacramento County. The overall goal of Black Mothers United is to increase the number of African American women who enter prenatal care early (i.e., before the end of the first trimester), and decrease the number of African American babies born prematurely or low birth weight. By reducing problem birth outcomes, the program will contribute to improved rates for infant survival. BMU is comprised of several components - Personal Advocates, Community Partnerships, Presentations and Community Events, Community Outreach and Education, Case Management and Care Planning, and last but not least, Black Mothers United Participants - when working harmoniously together, lead to healthy babies.
