MESSAGE FOR CRAB FEED VOLUNTEER SERVERS - PLEASE READ:
Hello Scout Servers and Serving Guides! Thanks for volunteering to help make this year's Crab Feed extra special. Serving a table is more than just bringing food to people: you’re making a lasting impression with troop and community members alike. The way you engage with them matters, and their experience is directly reflected in the service you provide. Here’s what to know to Be Prepared for Saturday:
Arrival
Call time is 4:30pm @ Ben Ali Shrine, 3262 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento CA 95815.
Doors open to guests at 5:00pm and service starts at 5:30. We’ll review the serving process, assign tables, and you’ll eat beforehand (pasta & bread only – no crab). Please be on time.
Dress Code
Servers must wear black long pants (not shorts), black shoes, and a white collared shirt (short or long-sleeved), tucked in, with no brands or logos. If you are working as a greeter or are in the opening flag ceremony, you will also need your Class A.
Expectation
We have 19 servers and 30 tables, so those with more experience will cover two tables, while first-time servers will only have one table (and may have the opportunity to shadow a more experienced server and help with their 2nd table).
Service runs until about 9pm and you are expected to stay until cleanup is over. Food & dishes will be constantly rotating in and out of the kitchen through the evening. Short bathroom breaks are fine, along with 5-10 minute breaks every hour, but be ready for a fast-paced environment. If you need something more to do, the chefs may need help cracking crab.
NO cell phones are permitted – leave them behind or prepare to put them in a locker for the entire meal. Absolutely no horseplay or intentional wasting of food will be permitted. You represent Troop 1, and we expect you to follow the Scout Oath and Law at all times.
We'll go over all of this again (and more) in a pre-service meeting on Saturday around 5:15pm. Please respond to the email that was sent out to confirm you’re still attending. Thank you for all you’ll be doing to make this fundraiser extra special and supporting Troop 1 in its 110th year.
