The GreenHouse

The GreenHouse The GreenHouse is a nonprofit org. serving youth in the Gardenland/Northgate area of Sacramento, Ca. The GreenHouse envisions youth who are:

1.

Socially, Emotionally, and Spiritually Thriving. Youth who: engage in healthy relationships with peers and caring adults, have access to counseling services if needed, engage in racially diverse relationships, behave in an age-appropriate and respectful manner, refrain from joining gangs, and have access to local congregations if they are interested.

2. Academically Successful. Youth who: perform

at or above grade level, graduate from high school, pursue higher education (college, junior college, or a trade school), and have the tools and resources they need to be successful in school.

3. Physically Healthy. Youth who: have their basic needs met (food, clothing, shelter, access to healthcare), have a safe home environment, and make healthy choices for their bodies.

4. Growing to their Full Potential. Youth who: know their individual talents, skills, and passions and have opportunities to use them, serve in their community on a regular basis, have opportunities to develop and practice their leadership potential, and are ready for life (jobs, college, relationships, etc) by the time they are 21. This vision, created with input from youth, parents, volunteers, staff, and board members following a community-wide Listening Campaign, is in-line with the Sacramento Region Compact for Children and Youth.

What a fantastic way to wrap up the summer! ☀️🍔

Friday evening, we brought our community together for a fun-filled barbecue, with help from our friends at Adventure Church. From great food and plenty of laughs to catching up with friends and neighbors, everyone had an amazing time!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We’re grateful for the opportunity to come together, celebrate our community, and make some great summer memories. ❤️

They say it takes a village—and we are beyond blessed by ours! ✨

This week, we celebrated a huge milestone at The GreenHouse with a special ribbon cutting followed by a private reception. Our incredible Culinary Arts interns cooked and served an amazing meal, showcasing their growth, skills, and the power of youth workforce development. 🌿

We owe a extra-special thank you to (and all the community leaders who joined us!). When our A/C units were stolen and damaged, SMUD stepped up to help restore comfort and safety to our space. On top of that, their partnership is helping us lower our carbon footprint with clean-energy induction cooking, while preparing our youth for bright futures.

Graduation season is a time to celebrate hard work, perseverance, and new beginnings. As we cheered on each graduate taking their next step during our promotion ceremony in May, we were also reminded that no one reaches these milestones alone.

The same is true for our organization. Because of the generosity of our incredible sponsors, we were able to provide a beautiful, joyful and fun ceremony to celebrate our graduates well!

What’s cooking at The GreenHouse this summer???

Our Culinary Arts internship is off to an amazing start (as are our other programs🤩). Ten of our amazing youth are spending three days a week this summer learning about nutrition, health and wellness, and cooking up some yummy dishes!

About to jump into summer here at The GreenHouse! Our kids will take “A Splash Around the World” this summer and dive into how other cultures see the 🌍 We are looking forward to all of many things they will learn and celebrate through the lens of others over these weeks. Summer programs begin on Monday, and we are ready for it!

Last Wednesday evening, our 6th, 8th and 12th graders stood in front of friends, family and staff as they celebrated their graduation at The GreenHouse. We have an incredible privilege at GH to watch transformation happen over the course of a year in these kids lives; we are grateful for their participation and trust in us and our programs, and absolutely LOVE watching them grow over the months. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey.

Graduation, at each of these levels, is a huge achievement, we are so proud of all of you! It was a lovely evening filled with laughter, proud tears and yummy desserts. Well done everyone🥳🙌🤩

Hello GreenHouse friends! We want to thank you so deeply for partnering with The GreenHouse through Big Day of Giving yesterday. Together, 89 donors gave $107,227 to support GreenHouse youth and families! Your generosity has made a tremendous impact in our neighborhood and it allows us to provide a safety net of support that influences kids lives which radiates out to strengthen the broader community.
