PreventionWorks PreventionWorks is dedicated to funding and supporting leadership development activities for youth in the Sacramento region.

PreventionWorks' primary program is the Youth Leadership Development Camp. This five-day camp challenges youth (referred to as “delegates” at camp) to imagine and then create their ideal community at camp, absent any influences or distractions from our day-to-day lives. Adult and youth staff, all veterans of the “delegate experience,” work hard to provide a positive and safe environment wherein al

l ideas and delegates are valued. Throughout the week the youth take their ideas and make them a reality through various activities and sessions. After completion of their first camp delegates are invited to become part of the youth committee, who become the staff for the following year's camp. Some youth continue as staff for years, growing in responsibility each year and sharing their experience with others, completing the leadership cycle.
