Today was a beautiful day to support the Northern California Special Olympics! Youth from the Sacramento Young Marines (YM), the Florin Law Academy (FLA), and the Sacramento Sheriffs Explorers all assisted with duties, such as set up, Color Guard, cheering on runners, and tear down. The Sacramento Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) sponsored runners from FLA & YM to run the 5K and 1 mile races. Canes provided the VIPs and the volunteers with a tasty lunch.

Saturday the Sacramento Young Marines participated in the 52nd annual Guns and Hoses charity football game between the fire dogs and the law hogs. This event raises funds for many charities in the Sacramento region.
After two prior years the law hogs coming out on top, this year Fire pulled out a win of 3 to 0. Next year law will be back strong and the Young Marines will be there again to assist.

Currently on our 8 hour back home. We had excellent representation at the past D6 JLS/SLS at Vista, CA from Dec 28, 2025 to Jan 2, 2026. YM/SgtMaj Krishna as Academy SgtMaj, YM/GySgt Garcia on JLS cadre, YM/SSgt Silas Greco attending SLS, and UC Hinds balancing School Adjutant and AMO roles. It was an interesting school with the inclement weather, but all YMs passed and are returning with much more experience, knowledge, and tools.

We had the honor today to participate in a Toys for Tots distribution today. Getting to see all of the donations come in, assisting with sorting and displaying the toys, and then escorting the families while they shopped was an incredible way to finish off our holiday season. Now it is time for our Young Marines and adult volunteers to enjoy some time with our families before we return to work in the new year.

Our Young Marines were proud to serve our community at the Shop with a Cop event. Each Young Marine was paired with a deputy and a family to shop together, creating a fun and meaningful experience for everyone involved. Our YMs had a great time interacting with the other youth present while helping spread joy during the holiday season. We are grateful to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office and all the volunteers who made this event possible.
