Auroville International USA To support the projects and development inspired by the founding principles of Auroville The Auroville Charter

Auroville belongs to nobody in particular.

Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But, to live in Auroville, one must be a willing servitor of the divine consciousness. Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages. Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towar

ds future realisations. Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual human unity.

"We always receive more than we give."

That's how Theresa and Dian describe decades of involvement with AVI USA.

Across nine trips to Auroville in South India, they carried medical supplies, taught grant-writing workshops, and lent a hand at the Matrimandir. Today, they continue to support AVI USA and our diverse network of project partners in Auroville, across India, and globally - bringing the founding ideals of Auroville to life through education, ecology, healthcare, arts and culture, women's empowerment, and so much more.

πŸ”οΈ "It felt like a dream come true," Rajkumar told us β€” one of 61 kids from the village outreach schools we partner with who just got back from the trip of their lives.

Udavi, Isai Ambalam, and Aikiyam are three of our project partners β€” village outreach schools that give children from Alankupam, Irumbai, and other villages around Auroville access to quality, subsidized education they might not otherwise have. These schools go through 8th standard, so for their oldest students, this trip is also a send-off. This year, 61 of those students made a 15-day journey from the villages around Auroville, Tamil Nadu, all the way to Van Nivas, the Himalayan Center of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Nainital.

For most of them, it was the first time they'd left their home state β€” trading a familiar village for train platforms, mountain trails, and a level of independence many hadn't had the chance to practice before. A send-off like that does more than mark an ending: it gives kids who might never have pictured themselves this far from home a taste of just how much of the world is actually theirs to take on.

They saw the Taj Mahal. They navigated train stations and city streets on their own. They rock-scrambled, river-crossed, and rappelled their way through the mountains around Nainital.

Sudhir, an executive at Udavi School who's coordinated this trip for years, says it every time: what these kids gain in confidence and independence stays with them long after they're home.

Thank you to everyone who made this happen for these 61 kids. Learn more or help fund the 2027 trip β€” link in the comments πŸ‘‡

πŸ“Έ Capturing Life - Photography by John Mandeen

For more than four decades, John Mandeen turned his lens toward life in Auroville, Tamil Nadu, India, capturing moments of work, play, nature, and community. His photographs offer a deeply human portrait of a place he loved, revealing its beauty, everyday life, and the people who shaped it.

If you'll be in Auroville or Pondicherry around Sri Aurobindo's birthday on August 15, don't miss this special exhibition featuring a selection of John's photographs spanning more than four decades.

What if preventable blindness could become a thing of the past? πŸ‘οΈ

Aurokiya Eye Care Center, an AVI USA project partner, is turning that question into a plan. Their new Aurokiya 2030 roadmap aims to eliminate preventable blindness across the villages surrounding Auroville, Tamil Nadu β€” growing from 3,500 people screened each year to 10,000, through school visits, village eye camps, and a future mobile clinic. Every restored vision changes not just one life, but a whole family.

At AVI USA, our project partners are the reason we exist.

They resonate with the founding ideals of Auroville β€” peace and understanding among people, lifelong education, conscious spiritual evolution, and stewardship of the Earth. In 2025 alone, we collaborated with over 80 project partners in Auroville and across India.

πŸ™πŸ½ We walk alongside them β€” supporting their fundraising, annual reporting, and planning, answering the daily flow of questions from the people who give on their behalf, and offering mentoring on communications and operations. Every partner has a dedicated webpage to tell their story and receive donations directly. And every December, we run a matching campaign that multiplies the impact of every gift.

Less than 0.1% of this forest still looks the way it did before people arrived. 🌳

It's India's rarest forest type β€” and our project partner, the Auroville Botanical Gardens, is helping protect what remains. "Once Upon a Forest," a short documentary by Paul Blanchflower, tells its story.

On July 5, Tara Jauhar β€” lovingly known as Tara Didi (big sister) β€” celebrates her 90th birthday! πŸŽ‚

Connected to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's vision since childhood, she has spent decades dedicating herself to nurturing generations of children through integral education at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi Branch. Her life's work guiding Mother's International School has helped young people grow in mind, heart, body, and spirit, touching countless lives.

Today, Mother's International School is in the midst of an important renovation to create new classrooms, modern labs, inclusive learning spaces, and facilities for the arts. 🏫

If Tara Didi has inspired you, or you believe in the transformative power of integral education, please consider honoring her 90th birthday with a gift to help carry this work forward. πŸ™πŸ½
