Many of you may remember Darby.

A few months ago, Darby underwent surgery to remove her eye after we discovered something was wrong.

We finally received answers from her biopsy.

The good news: the cancer does not appear to have spread into the eye itself.

The difficult news: Darby was diagnosed with cancer in the surrounding tissues.

While additional testing and treatment options have been discussed, there are still many unanswered questions. We are carefully reviewing the information and determining what steps may be in Darby's best interest.

She may be older. She may never be adopted. But she matters.

Darby is safe, loved, and surrounded by people who care deeply about her.

Whatever comes next, she will not face it alone.

Caden came to us as a young cat.

She was never particularly friendly with people and preferred life on her own terms.

Not every animal that comes through rescue becomes social, adoptable, or easy.

But they still deserve safety.

Over time, Caden slowly learned to trust.

Recently, during her routine exam, we discovered she was severely dehydrated and struggling with serious kidney disease.

Today, with supportive care, supplements, special food, and routine fluids, Caden is on the upward mend.

Without sanctuary, there may not have been anyone to notice she needed help.

Instead, sixteen years later, she is safe.

She is loved.

Before long, these tiny little faces will be ready for their next chapter.

Whitney and her kittens have been growing up safely here at Animal Rescue League — learning how to play, explore, cuddle, and simply enjoy being kittens.

As they continue to grow, we will soon begin preparing for future foster-to-adopt opportunities.

When Rawley came looking for us, we knew something was wrong.

Rawley has always been one of our more guarded cats.

So when he quietly began coming into our treatment room on his own instead of hiding, we knew he was trying to tell us something.

Animals often tell us they are not feeling well long before medical tests ever do.

For a cat like Rawley, seeking comfort instead of distance said everything.

He allowed us to pick him up, transport him for veterinary care, and begin running tests to better understand how we can help him feel comfortable again.

Moments like these remind us why compassionate rescue care matters so much. 🐾

Meet Louie.

At about 16 years old, Louie is our mascot—and in many ways, the heart of what we believe.

He was once a stray.

Recently, he needed surgery to remove severely swollen salivary glands on both sides of his neck.
It wasn’t simple. And at his age, nothing ever is.

But Louie came through it.

His vitals are good. He’s healing. And he’s still right here with us.

Not every animal who comes to ARL is young.
Not every story is easy.

But every life matters.

A place where older animals are not overlooked…
where they are cared for, supported, and given the time they deserve.

This is what sanctuary means—care, commitment, and a place to belong for life.
