It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved State Adjutant/Quartermaster, Rodger Meier.

A proud U.S. Army veteran and Desert Storm hero, Rodger served his country with courage and distinction. His unwavering dedication to the VFW and its mission was evident in every moment he spent tirelessly advocating for and supporting veterans.

As a cherished member of VFW Post 10125, Rodger truly embodied the VFW's motto: "No one does more for veterans." His leadership, compassion, and commitment have left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know him.

Rodger's memory will forever be a source of inspiration and strength for our organization. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his years of service.

Rest in peace, Comrade Meier. Your legacy will live on. 🇺🇸

VFW Post 8254 Tasty Dog cart is out at Gordon Hill flower shop on HWY 88 in Jackson today and tomorrow till 2:00 PM. All proceeds go to Veterans assistance. 1/4 pound dogs and Polish Dogs. Come out and see us! Best Dogs in town!!

Tomorrow is National Purple Heart day and Plymouth CA is a designated Purple Heart City. Join us tomorrow in Plymouth for a ceremony honoring Amador County recipients of the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. Ceremony starts at 10:00am

Please find attached the Itinerary of events for the upcoming State Commander, Deb Johnston's Official Visit to our district on August 16th, and 17th.

On Friday, we are doing some community Service at the Sunrise Food Bank from 9 to 11 AM. If you are interested in participating please let me know ahead of time so we can have an accurate headcount.

The official dinner is on Friday at Post 4647 located at 3300 U Street in Antelope. Dinner is Tri-Tip, baked potato, Corn on the Cob, dinner roll, and a great dessert. The cost is $15.00 and all the proceeds go to the District 17 Auxiliary Membership Program as the Auxiliary is doing all the work of organizing the dinner. A SPECIAL THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WORK POST 4647 AND THE DISTRICT 17 AUXILIARY, HAS DONE TO MAKE THE 2024 OFFICIAL VISIT A SUCCESS!

Army Sergeant James H. Keller served with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. He made the ultimate sacrifice in November of 1950 and is remembered at the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial in Hawaii. Join us in saying his name and honoring his life, service, and sacrifice.

All-American & All-State VFW Post 8254 and DAV California Chapter 118 and the VFW Auxiliary Post 8254 Ione invite you to participate in the Ione ─ Wreaths Across America Campaign by volunteering or sponsoring a wreath ($17 each) to be placed on a veteran’s grave December 14, 2024 at the Ione Public Cemetery and the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
