This past weekend, the future of innovation in the fair industry took shape at the Lodi Grape Festival! University of Notre Dame ESTEEM student Michael Tiernan spent two days in Lodi, California, conducting stakeholder interviews and gathering firsthand insights from fair leaders and industry professionals. His research will help guide the development and implementation of the WFA AI model—an innovative resource being created specifically to support fairs and the people who make them successful.

We are grateful to Lodi Grape Festival for hosting and everyone who shared their experiences, ideas, and vision with Michael. Their voices are helping us build a tool grounded in the real needs of our industry.

Michael’s work will be unveiled at the 2027 WFA Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas. Join us to hear from Michael in person, learn what the research revealed, and get a first look at what’s ahead.
