Thursday we completed 3 months of turtle nest surveys at Bushy Lake near Cal Expo. There have been a lot of changes at the site! We have a new Beaver series of dams on the west side of bushey Lake, they're at least four s**t pile locations for river otters, which we saw Thursday, a bobcat is taking up the territory and student assistance found for predated fawns, and we're seeing really different distribution patterns of turtles. W
We trapped turtles only once. A new NW pond turtle male, app 6 years old. 8 red eared slider.
When we went out early in the morning, could see Little critter tracks in the dust that have been there before us. Beaver, River otters, small mammals and turkeys.
We are really seeing a habitat Island with high biodiversity at bushey Lake, some of the best in the lower American River parkway. Because we have no neighbors, we have very little public support, and it's hard to go alone. Lake organization. If anybody would like to be part of us. We are working with the Indigenous Futures Society to apply for a grant from CA WCB. We would greatly appreciate letters of support.
