This week, NCNW members from throughout California convened in Sacramento at the State Capitol for a two-day program focused on advocacy, professional development, and community building.
Micah Jumpp, State Policy and Advocacy Manager, traveled from Washington, D.C. to conduct a training session on "Power Up," NCNW's civic engagement strategy. Additionally, California state leadership facilitated sessions on legislative advocacy and the alignment of current legislation with our organization's Core Four priorities.
The images above capture highlights from day two, during which NCNW representatives occupied the Capitol building and were formally recognized on the California State Senate floor in honor of 90 years of impactful contributions.
A key insight gained was that advocacy is not a singular event, but rather an ongoing relationship. NCNW members left with renewed motivation to consistently engage, voice their perspectives, and build/nurture relationships with our elected officials.๐โ๐พ
