Women's Empowerment

Women's Empowerment Women's Empowerment educates and empowers women experiencing homelessness with the skills and confid WE Believe:
• Homelessness does not define a person.

Women’s Empowerment’s mission was created by women expressing their needs, and a community coming together with the desire to end homelessness—for good. For 19 years, WE has empowered women and their children into breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving self-reliance. Located in Sacramento, California, WE provides education, counseling, essential services, and more, all in a safe and nurturing

environment where every person is treated with respect and dignity. It is an experience, not their identity.
• Women are strong and resilient; each woman can be the author – and the hero – of her own life. With empowerment and support each woman can build the bright future she imagines for herself and her children. Women’s Empowerment is a holistic program that responds to the unique needs of each woman who is experiencing homelessness. Visit our website to learn more about our programs and how Women’s Empowerment works to end homelessness one woman – one family – at a time.

Tikkun Olam” means “to heal the world.” Women’s Empowerment created this special award in honor of Erie Shockey, our founding Social Worker, who truly embodied the meaning of Tikkun Olam. Throughout Erie’s decade at Women’s Empowerment, she supported, empowered, and advocated for thousands of women and children experiencing the trauma of homelessness. Although Erie passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, her legacy of healing the world lives on through the Tikkun Olam Award, a lasting celebration of local heroes who work hard each day to make a difference in the lives of others. We invite you to nominate someone who carries on that spirit of compassion, service, and positive change. The recipient will be recognized at Women’s Empowerment’s 25th Anniversary Silver Gala on September 25, 2026. Join Women’s Empowerment in celebrating our 25th Anniversary. For a quarter of a century, a powerful community of support has gathered around a single, life-changing mission: to ensure that no woman or child is defined by homelessness by educating, empowering, and walking alongside resilient women as they reclaim their confidence, secure stable jobs, and rebuild safe, loving homes.

To celebrate this monumental milestone, on Friday, September 25th, 2026, the resilient women we serve, business leaders, community officials, and philanthropists, will come together at The Sheraton Grand to celebrate the hard work and successes of over 2,000 program graduates and the community that makes this work possible.

Make sure to buy your tickets and join us in our mission of supporting women and children in transforming their lives and building pathways out of poverty.

4 Hours Left to give!!!

Alissa is a mother of six who came to Women’s Empowerment carrying heartbreak, homelessness, and the pain of not knowing how she would give her children the life they deserve.

But she refused to give up.

Today, she is rebuilding. She is healing. She is fighting for a stable home, meaningful work, and a brighter future for her children.

She says, *“I’m ready to build a life for my children.”*

This Big Day of Giving, your donation can help mothers like Alissa turn pain into hope and struggle into stability.

Give today. Because every child deserves to see their mother rise. 💜

A home changes everything. 🏡💜

For many women at Women’s Empowerment, the biggest barrier to stability isn’t motivation—it’s access to safe, affordable housing.

That’s where Pamala comes in. As a Housing Specialist and Navigator, she does the often unseen work of building relationships with landlords, advocating for women, and helping them secure a place to call home.

“Years ago, that was me,” Pamala shares. “I was lost… I didn’t have something like Women’s Empowerment to guide me.”

Now, she’s the bridge between homelessness and hope for so many women.

But this life-changing work is only possible because of YOU.

✨ This Big Day of Giving, help us open doors for women ready to rebuild their lives.
💜 Donate today and be part of their journey to stability.

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we are feeling the love!

To celebrate the amazing people who make our mission possible, we treated our volunteers to a night out with the Sacramento A's ! Plus, a special shoutout to the small group of volunteers who represented Women’s Empowerment by walking the field this weekend for a special volunteer recognition ceremony.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of this organization. Thank you for showing up, giving back, and helping the women and children we serve.

We appreciate you! 💜
