Yesterday we were able to send 35 families home with food through our partnership with the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. 💜

That included food for 42 adults, 25 children, and 7 seniors.
And these were some GOOD food boxes! Families received frozen chicken, whole watermelons, fresh blueberries, potatoes, onions, macaroni noodles, canned peaches, beans and tomatoes, cereal, white rice, cookies, fresh fruit, fruit snack packs, Goldfish and other snacks.
We know how much grocery prices are impacting families right now, and being able to offer fresh food, meat, pantry staples and snacks all in one box makes a real difference.
A huge thank you to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services for partnering with CASH and helping us make sure the families we serve have access to good, nourishing food.
Sometimes meeting someone's immediate needs is as simple as making sure they leave with enough food for their family. That's community care. 💜

Last week was a powerful reminder of what can happen when survivors, advocates, healthcare providers, and community partners come together around one purpose:
**Making Sure Survivors Have Access to Justice.**

We were deeply honored to be recognized by Assemblywoman Maggy Krell for our collective work helping survivors of s*x trafficking navigate the Backpage Remission process. For many survivors, completing these petitions meant going back through years of painful experiences, documenting losses, gathering records, and putting into words the impact exploitation has had on their lives. No one should have to navigate a process like that alone.
At CASH, we were proud to stand alongside Dr. Ron Chambers and Dignity Health Medical Safe Haven, Love Never Fails, survivor-attorney and advocate Carissa Phelps, Marjorie Saylor, and so many incredible survivors, advocates, and partners who stepped forward to make sure survivors knew about this opportunity and had meaningful support in pursuing it.
This recognition is especially meaningful coming from Assemblywoman Maggy Krell, whose work was instrumental in the fight to take down Backpage. Years later, we are seeing another chapter of that fight: helping ensure that money taken from those who profited from exploitation can finally make its way back to the survivors who endured it.
Most importantly, we recognize the survivors themselves.
To every survivor who completed a petition, supported another survivor, shared information, gathered documents, told their story again, or simply found the courage to ask for help: **this recognition belongs to you.**

Justice is not only about holding people accountable. It is also about repair, restoration, and putting resources directly into the hands of survivors.
We are proud to have been part of this extraordinary community effort. 💜

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Jeff Holden to talk about the heart of Community Against Sexual Harm (CASH), our mission, and why survivor-led services matter.

During our conversation, we discussed two truths that are at the core of everything we do:

Lived experience creates hope. Nearly 80% of our team has lived experience or a direct connection to our programs. When someone walks through our doors, they don't just hear that healing is possible—they meet people who have walked a similar path and are now living lives filled with purpose, leadership, family, and hope.

Healing isn't linear—and that's okay. Success isn't defined by perfection. It's found in the courage to ask for help, return after a setback, maintain housing, access medical care, recognize the signs of exploitation, or make one safer choice. We believe every step forward matters, and we'll continue to show up as many times as it takes.

Yesterday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order to strengthen California's statewide response to s*x trafficking by expanding prevention efforts, improving coordination, and increasing support for survivors.

This action reflects the importance of a survivor-centered approach, one that CASH is proud to champion every day through trauma-informed services, peer support, and advocacy.
