The Board of Directors for Division 7 came out in force to Sacramento for Lobby Day 2026. We hosted a pre-meeting luncheon for our members that were in attendance to connect and get to know each other.

California Psychological Association had over 100 psychologists and graduate students registered to attend, and the larger group was able to meet with 81 Assemblymember or Senator’s offices. This was our largest Lobby Day turnout ever.

The three bills we discussed and lobbied in support were:
- SB 903 (Padilla) which establishes the Wellness and Oversight for Psychological Resources Act to ensure that therapy and psychological services are delivered by qualified, licensed professionals and creates a safeguard to prevent artificial intelligence to go unregulated in the sphere of online therapy.

- SB 1049 (Weber Pierson) which requires health care service plans to allow providers 90 days to submit a corrected claim when private insurance has denied it due to a defect that can be fixed by resubmitting the claim.

- AB 1876, the Fair Care for All Act, which would codify federal non-discrimination protections under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act into state law. Making in unlawful for any health care provider receiving federal funds to refuse to treat an individual based on s*x, gender, age, race, color, national origin, or disability.

We also had time to connect with friends and fellow professionals from all over California. Already looking forward to next year and the CPA conference that will be back in Sacramento this coming September.

Division VII is happy to announce that we will have a presentation next month in honor of As*xuality Day in the month of April.

Title: Culturally Responsive Care for As*xual & Ace-Spectrum Clients
Presenter: Jared Boot-Haury, PsyD, ABPP
When: April 10, 2026 from 9:00am - 10:30am PST Via Zoom

Participants will examine common misconceptions, minority stress processes, and the impact of intersecting identities on psychological well-being.
