We LOVE dogs, and we know you do too! 🐢❀️

This National Dog Day, we're celebrating some of our team's furry companions and the unconditional love, comfort and joy they bring to our lives every day.

At the American Red Cross, we're proud to support pets and the people who love them. Whether it's preparing for a disaster or knowing what to do in an emergency, we're here to help keep your four-legged family members safe.

Our free Pet First Aid App is like having a vet in your pocket, offering step-by-step guidance for common pet emergencies. You can also build your confidence with our online Cat and Dog First Aid Course.

Today, we're giving a little extra love to the dogs who make our days brighter, our walks longer and our hearts fuller. ❀️🐾

Whether the need is close to home or hundreds of miles away, Red Crossers answer the call, leaving behind their families and routines to bring help and hope to people facing their hardest days.

For the past week, Francis Huezo has been deployed to Illinois, where severe storms, tornadoes and flooding have upended lives and displaced families. Alongside fellow Red Cross disaster workers, she has helped deliver relief and support to those affected.

Francis has spent time at Multi-Agency Resource Centers distributing food, water and resources to more than 500 people in one of the hardest-hit communities.

β€œThe hugs and thank-yous from the community made my entire deployment a joy,” Francis shared.

We are grateful to Francis and all the Red Cross volunteers who show up with compassion and care, reminding people they are not alone when they need it most. ❀️

On World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate the impact of people helping people.

Every day, Red Cross volunteers step up to support communities by responding to disasters, assisting military families, ensuring patients have access to lifesaving blood, teaching essential skills and offering comfort during difficult times.

At the heart of humanitarian work is the belief that everyone deserves compassion, support and dignity when they need it most.

Today, we honor humanitarian workers everywhere and thank those who dedicate themselves to serving others.

While we're no longer facing a blood crisis, the blood supply is extremely vulnerable β€” especially as we approach new seasonal challenges, like end-of-summer travel & back-to-school activities which can disrupt donors' availability to give.
