Join SacNAHN in collaborating with Breakthrough T1D (Formerly known JDRF) on August 1st at the West Sacramento Community Center and spending half a day with kids living with Type 1 Diabetes. It will be a warm and welcoming space where children and caregivers can connect, feel supported, and build community, all while enjoying fun, engaging activities. There will be opportunities to Set Up, Assist with Registration, Lead Activities at a station: Face Painting, Beading, String Braiding Lanyards, Coloring, Jenga, Rufus Check-Up, Food and Beverage, and Clean Up. Let’s congratulate Alyssa Balcazar on an incredible milestone — graduating from American River College with her Associate Degree in Nursing this past May 19, 2026! 🎓👏
As a first-generation college graduate, Alyssa continues to inspire through her dedication, passion, and commitment to serving the community. She will continue her educational journey in the RN-to-BSN program at California State University, Chico this June.
Since joining Sac NAHN in January, Alyssa has embraced the power of mentorship, culture, representation, and community within the organization. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and excited to see all she will achieve next.
She will also be celebrating her birthday on May 30th — making this month even more special. Happy Early Birthday, Alyssa! 🎉💐 🎂 👏🏽

Last week was a powerful reflection of what community, leadership, and service look like in action. 💙
Our members continued to show up across multiple events to educate, inspire, and uplift both our community and future healthcare professionals. From hosting a booth at the Health Professions High School Open House to engaging elementary students through the final session of the Salud Por Ti program, every event was driven by passion, teamwork, and purpose.
A special thank you to all the incredible volunteers and leaders who dedicated their time, energy, and knowledge this past week. 👏🏽
Saturday was especially impactful, with members successfully participating in two concurrent events — leading sessions at the Avanza Conference while also facilitating our Student Prep for Success (Éxito Estudiantil) workshop.
The ability to carry out so many meaningful events successfully is only possible because of the volunteers and leaders who continue to work tirelessly to uplift our community, provide access to important resources and information, and help guide and inspire the next generation of nurses and healthcare professionals.
Thank you to everyone who continues to serve with heart, purpose, and dedication. The impact you are making reaches farther than you know. ✨
