Heading the YO! Disabled and Proud program, Jem comes to us with leadership experience in the destigmatization of mental health struggles and combating homelessness in the Sacramento area. Their passion for awareness, advocacy and community is a valued asset to our team and will support in increasing our efforts to engage and empower youth California's disability community. ]

📢 Emergency Budget Rally This Thursday! 📢

June 6th, 11 am
455 Golden Gate, San Francisco

California faces a major budget deficit, and the Governor is proposing severe cuts to essential services. These cuts will affect people with disabilities, older adults, immigrants, and working-class communities. The proposed cuts include:
* Eliminating IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) for undocumented Californians
* Ending IHSS’s back-up provider program
* Deep cuts to food programs, housing, and homelessness programs
Speak Up for Our Communities! Join us and other organizations supporting disability rights, aging, immigrant, worker, and labor groups. We must make it clear that we will not accept these budget cuts.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Our office will be closed on Monday, May 27th. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 28th.

Yesterday, CFILC staff members, state legislators, and disability leaders attended the California State Capital to announce the formation of a new Legislative Disability Caucus, a bi-partisan group that will work to amplify the voices of the disability community in the legislature. This coincides with the passing of ACR 179 on the Assembly Floor which showcases and honors the contributions people with disabilities have achieved and the ongoing work that needs to be accomplished.
