AMENDED COMPLAINT:

Since filing LIC v. Foster Farms, LIC has received ADDITIONAL reports of cruelty.

So yesterday, LIC submitted an amended complaint. It adds allegations of “cruelty to animals at slaughter, including Foster Farms deliberately refusing to properly stun chickens, thus knowingly causing the animals to consciously experience excruciating pain.”

Legal Impact for Chickens brought suit against California’s largest poultry producer for cruelty. LIC's complaint accuses Foster Farms of crushing chickens with forklifts, forcing birds to live among the maggot-covered corpses of their dead flockmates, and kicking and throwing animals.

LIC will always be grateful to our first employee ever, Brianna, who made LIC what we are today.

Thank you to Brianna for taking a chance on LIC. And thank you to Brianna's wonderful family and friends who have been so kind and supportive to LIC.

Brianna was a unique, amazing, bold, brave, smart, and very very kind person. We should all be more like her.

We are heartbroken to tell you that Brianna died on August 31, 2026.

LIC is launching a membership program, and the Falcon Fund led by Marcus Abramovitch will match new LIC members up to $50,000!

Members will have access to a members-only webpage with a suggestion box, members-only merchandise discount code, and more! Members will also be invited to LIC's annual party at the beginning of each year. If you already donated to LIC, you may already be a member—Reach out and ask!

There are TWO ways to become a LIC Member:

1) Donate to LIC!

You can become a LIC member by donating now! Any gift of $25 or more will make you an official LIC member! legalimpactforchickens.org/donate

If you become a member by donating in September or October, the Falcon Fund will MATCH YOUR DONATION, DOUBLING the impact!

For example, if you choose to become a member by making a donation to LIC of $1,000, LIC will receive $2,000!!!!!

2) Volunteer for LIC!

If you have any special skills and would like to donate your time, please comment, DM us, or email [email protected] to let us know! Any volunteer work qualifies you for membership. Completing one of our action alerts also counts as volunteering!

ACTION ALERT: Through September 7, the US Postal Service is accepting comments on its treatment of the animals it ships. Visit legalimpactforchickens.org/blog/usps-comment to take action. If you let us know you took action and agree to opt in to membership, you'll join the ranks of LIC Members!

The Falcon Fund has agreed to donate $100 to LIC for every person who becomes a LIC member by volunteering for LIC in September or October!

In either case, your membership lasts for four years. Any new donation or volunteer work restarts your four-year clock. People who already donated $25+ in the last four years are already members, and people who already volunteered in the last four years are already eligible for membership. The total amount that LIC can potentially receive from the Falcon Fund as a result of this membership drive is $50,000. So please SPREAD THE WORD!

This new federal puppylaundering ruling shows consumers want to buy things that COMPLY with pro-animal laws.

Thus, when a family brings home a puppy in California, the family expects the dog to be RESCUED, as CA law requires (NOT from a puppy mill).
