WB6OHW and K6YXH observed an in-person session that Terry W5TMP arranged. So we could observe, he also created a Zoom session. He used GradeCam answer sheets, and set up an ExamTools session. The exam booklets were generated from ExamTools as well. The Applicants registered on ExamTools, signed their 605s on ExamTools, as did the other VEs. They could have just marked their exams while logged into ExamTools. So, the only difference, really, is that the VEs observed in-person rather than over Zoom, and since the VEs were there with them, they could administer exams to mutiple Applicants at one time. This type of session is almost exactly what ExamTools was developed to do, allow applicants to take the exam on a computer or even a cell phone. At the end of the exam, all the documentation, including the EBF file, is generated by ET. Nice!

GLAARG VEC has been using ExamTools to print our exam booklets for many years. Now, thanks to your support, SignalStuff has been able to upgrade ET so we can print them with more font sizes, with or without figures, and even in Spanish!

Without hams buying SignalStuff products and donating, this wouldn't have been possible. Here are useful links:

We just received permission from the FCC to resume using Spanish translations of the Question Pools. GLAARG VEC will continue to work with the Concilio Puertorriqueño de EV to maintain the Traducción Oficial del Grupo de Preguntas del Concilio Puertorriqueño de EV.

Our thanks to all the VEs who supported Dave AE7TD, Chris W8W0T, Connor KD9LSV and Norm K6YXH this weekend! Another new crop of hams showed up in ULS at 6:15 EST Monday morning when the FCC's ULS fired up and processed the sessions submitted over the weekend.

We've noticed that future sessions are filling up at a noticeably slower rate - maybe GLAARG VE teams are reaching the end of the pent-up demand?

Naomi WB6OHW, Connor KD9LSV, Jonah KJ0NAH and Steve KO4AFL, having managed two 100+ sessions, have decided 75 is a lot more comfortable but still manageable in a three hour session. Of course that only works when they get an equal number of VEs working in 16 or more breakout rooms. Hooray for all the VEs who joined GLAARG to make this possible!

Dave AE7TD is doing increasingly larger sessions and consistently running multiple sessions every week. His VE yeam is running multiple breakout rooms.

Naomi has decided to just let last-minute dropouts go without opening the sessions to more applicants (she was doing this to reach her goal of 100+ applicants) - avoiding the hassle of making last minute changes is something Chris learned some time ago - there's just too much scrambling. She's still putting together the largest sessions of anyone doing remote exams. Of course we still remember pitching in to participate in Chris's first (accidental) mega-session!

Everyone keep up the great work and keep having fun!

FCC has asked all VECs to suspend giving exams in Spanish until the end of the month. All VECs amounts to just W4VEC and GLAARG, since no other VECs are giving exams in Spanish.

Hopefully they will allow resumption of these exams soon. Spanish translations have been available and legal since 1980, which is even before the Volunteer Exam Program, when the FCC offered them in Spanish. So, for the past 40 years, without interruption (until now). Hopefully they will satisfy themselves that all is well and let us get back to work.
