Construction employment increased in 32 states between April 2025 and April 2026.

California is not one of them.

According to the Associated General Contractors of America, California lost more construction jobs than any other state during that period — a decline of 14,500 jobs.

Those numbers represent more than statistics. It’s lost opportunities for workers, families, and communities across the state. California must take action to support construction and change this trend for the current generation of workers and the next.

As of last week, California is one step closer to a truly connected high-speed rail network.

A new agreement between the California High-Speed Rail Authority and the High Desert Corridor JPA will strengthen coordination in planning, design, and station integration at Palmdale — helping lay the groundwork for better connections across California's growing passenger rail network.

For decades, a connected high-speed rail system has been part of California’s vision for the future. While there’s still work ahead, every milestone matters.

The State of California has unfortunately lost the major shipyard building project to Texas. Saronic Technologies selected Texas over our State. The 10,000+ jobs and $3.2 billion in economic benefits considered for Solano County will now be moving to Texas. California Alliance for Jobs supported the California Forever effort and will continue to do so.

“California had a real opportunity to bring home a $3.2 billion shipyard, 10,000 permanent jobs and thousands of union construction jobs—but state leaders failed to act with the urgency this project demanded. While Texas moved quickly and aggressively, California could not provide the clear, expedited approval process needed to compete. This is an enormous loss for Solano County, California workers and our state’s manufacturing economy. We warned that without fast-track legislation, these jobs and this investment would go elsewhere. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. Despite the state’s failure today, we will continue to fight for this project and for California's economic progress.”
