Mercytree International Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sustainable and affordable medical services in neglected rural communities of Sub-Saharan Africa. The Foundation works to ensure that communities that have no access to healthcare are reached. Mercytree was primarily founded to address the overwhelming needs of these communities: many small, rural, and impoverish
ed, with high cases of airborne diseases and transmissible infections. Mercytree was founded in 2018 by Stanley Uchegbu, who grew up in one of the neglected communities, to help address the growing number of deaths and spread of diseases. This occurs from a lack of adequate healthcare services but Mercytree works to improve the healthcare system and reduce these challenges through a systemic approach.

Since then, Mercytree has formed a vibrant network of doctors, nurses, coordinators, volunteers, and community leaders. The Foundation is bringing this healthcare crisis in poor communities to the attention of regional, state, and international agencies. In early 2020, the Mercytree International Foundation launched its first campaign to provide healthcare services in one of the rural communities. Since then, Mercytree has provided medical services to more than 700 families in three communities, with over 300 prescription eyeglasses provided at the peak of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Mercytree also distributed food supplies to more than 150 families, including 50 widows. As a result of our Feed Africa COVID-19 program, Mercytree received funding from IRONMAN Foundation which was used to provide food supply to 150 or more families. By the end of August 2020, the Foundation completed its registration as a fully incorporated nonprofit organization in Nigeria. One of our greatest accomplishments occurred in February of 2020. Mercytree International Foundation successfully completed its first Mobile Clinic program providing medical care services to more than 150 families. That was the day Mercytree International Foundation became an advocate and provider of free healthcare services to neglected communities in rural Sub-Saharan Africa. Mercytree is elevating the provision of sustainable healthcare services in rural communities throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The Foundation has received tremendous support in the rural communities, as it is becoming a definitive advocate for healthcare services in the communities.
