From the Sierra to the desert to the sea, California’s biodiversity is unmatched.

Protecting 30% of our lands and coastal waters ensures we safeguard this extraordinary natural heritage.

For today. For tomorrow.

That land may look barren. But look closer.

Deserts, grasslands, and rocky coastlines are alive with species uniquely adapted to thrive there.

30×30 ensures we protect the full spectrum of California’s biodiversity, not just the postcard views.

🎶 Oh my God, we’re back again 🎶

From desert blooms to coastal hillsides, California is showing off.
These bursts of color depend on healthy habitat, biodiversity, and long-term conservation.

30×30 helps ensure that when the rains return, the blooms do too.

You can’t erase history. You have to learn from it. As the slavery exhibit at the President’s House in Philadelphia is restored, it’s a reminder that public spaces, and the truth, belong to the people. Our public lands tell the full American story: our triumphs, the injustices, our progress, and our pain.

When history is minimized or rewritten, we lose the chance to understand where we’ve been and how to move forward.
Public lands are more than places to explore. They are living classrooms, holding stories of Indigenous stewardship, enslavement, resistance, conservation, and community.

At Power In Nature, we believe protecting public lands means protecting the truth rooted in them.

Stewardship isn’t just about acres. It’s about honesty — so future generations can learn from the full arc of our history and build something better.

Congratulations to Meghan Hertel on being sworn in as Director of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

During her time at the California Natural Resources Agency, Meghan was a strong champion of California’s 30×30 strategy. Her leadership and commitment to conserving 30 percent of our lands and coastal waters by 2030 helped move this work from vision to action.

We are grateful for her partnership and her steady support of science-based conservation and habitat protection. We look forward to continuing to work with Meghan in her new role and wish her every success as she leads efforts to protect California’s fish, wildlife, and biodiversity for generations to come.

Congratulations to Assemblymember Greg Wallis on being honored by Power in Nature for his leadership on the Chuckwalla National Monument.

Thanks to his work establishing and defending Chuckwalla, nearly 600,000 acres are protected and contributing to California’s 30x30 goal. That means more desert landscapes, wildlife habitat, and cultural resources safeguarded for future generations.

We’re grateful for leaders who step up to protect the places that make California special.

We’re proud to recognize Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez as a Force for Nature honoree.
