One week until we will be at Nitty’s for trivia on Tuesday, May 5th to help support Friends of Front Street for Big Day of Giving!
We’ll have dog treats for sale from Leash and Collar and human treats from Carey's Cupcakes, both benefit Friends of Front Street and the animals we serve!
We’re so excited about taking over this regularly scheduled trivia night to share how your donations help animals in the Sacramento community, and the people who love them.

The only thing we’re happier about than trivia at Nitty’s is the future of Friends of Front Street Shelter!
Tonight several board members got together with our families to participate in trivia and while we didn’t win, we had so much fun.
😻Mark your calendars, join us there in three weeks for Cinco de Meow! 😻

Sometimes it takes a village and a miracle. Larry, a sweet gentleman who loves walks, cuddles and car rides, was out of time at the shelter with no options. Then Volunteer Melanie stepped up as a foster and FRIENDS paid for his torn ACL to be repaired through their specialty orthopedic program for Front Street dogs. Guess what - besides being saved and fixed, he landed in a home with a swimming pool, perfect for his rehab! friendsoffrontstreet.org

Hank came to Front Street after being found tied to a fence. Being 9 years old and deaf, shelter life was becoming harder and harder each day. For weeks people walked by his kennel, but there was no interest. Thanks to a FRIENDS rescue grant and FRIENDS paid transportation to Reno, Hank transitioned to chef Hank before finding his forever home.

Many kittens arrive at the shelter in pretty rough shape. These gingers came in sick, underweight, with goopy eyes and crusty noses. They were immediately driven to a regional humane society where they were healed, altered and ultimately adopted. Friends pays the transport costs to get these special needs pets where they need to go to find homes.

Jac came to the shelter as a stray, but at 13 years old, with degenerative joint disease and nuclear sclerosis, it was going to be tough for him to find a new home. That’s why Friends created the AdoptUs program, which provides financial assistance for shelter pets with chronic or terminal conditions. More than 30 pets are enrolled in this life saving program. Now adopted, Jac is living the best life ever.

When you donate to Friends of Front Street we put your generosity to work in two primary ways. The first is covered in this post about ways we fund programs for animals within the shelter. This includes things like:

Medical care for animals that have needs that are above and beyond the city shelter budget or onsite equipment. (Sometimes we buy the equipment too!) 💜

The AdoptUs program which enables the shelter to find loving forever homes for animals with hospice conditions that receive lifetime supportive care funded by your donations. 💜

Funds for transportation of animals by volunteers to rescues and less crowded shelters. 💜

Volunteer appreciation for the hundreds of individuals who dedicate thousands of hours to helping to keep the Front Street Shelter a safe and loving place for the animals. 💜
