It contains a large hall, fully equipped commercial kitchen, bathrooms, storage space & parking with handicap access. Final construction of the Ben and Sylvia Armijo – Sabinal Community Center was completed on September 30, 2020. It is located in the town of Sabinal, New Mexico situated off of NM 116 west of the Sabinal Fire Station on Hummingbird Drive. It is a 1,450 square foot facility owned an
d operated by Socorro County. It contains a large hall, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, two full bathrooms, a mop closet, storage space and parking space with handicap access. The community center has many potential uses for the residents of Northern Socorro County such as:
* Birthday Parties
* Graduation Parties
* Wedding Receptions
* Funeral Wakes
* Church Fiesta Meal
* Farmers Market
* Commercial Kitchen for food entrepreneurs
* Weekend Diner
* Fire Department Training
We are looking for five volunteers to manage the community center:
Position 1. Community Center Manager
A. Communicate progress and issues with the Socorro County Manager and Commission. Oversee operation and management of the Sabinal Community Center. Communicate with committee managers/ members. Communicate with media representatives and government officials. Conduct monthly committee meetings. Open and close before and after scheduled Community Center events. Position 2. Legal - Compliance Manager
A. Apply rules for Community Center uses by the Board. Review and execute Community Center leases and contracts for the Board
C. Review and issue tenant insurance policies. Review Socorro County facility use protocols. Inspect tenant Kitchen permits and activities for health and safety compliance. Communicate with the Community Center Manager as needed and at committee meetings. Open and Close before and after scheduled Community Center events. Position 3. Safety, Health and Kitchen Manager
A. Adopt and apply safety and health regulations as per Government standards. Apply COVID-19 compliance protocols until further notice. Communicate with the Fire Department Chief, Sheriff Department Chief and New Mexico State Police Chief for security requirements and calls for service. Communicate with New Mexico Environment Department inspectors. Inspect and report any facilities problems or issues. Position 4. Records and Bookkeeping Manager
A. Record daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual spreadsheets on community center
uses. Collect fees and dues from tenants. Submit payments to Socorro County Manager. Maintain a General Ledger of accounts. Compile and report collections and usage to the County Manager. Communicate with the General Manager as needed and at committee meetings. Present a bi-monthly report to Manager to present to the Board. Position 5. Event Planner, Scheduler and Media Manager
A. Communicate with Event users. Schedule events. Keep daily, weekly and monthly calendar. Build and update Community Center website and Social Media. Retrieve all phone inquiries and Community Center requests. Open and close before and after events. These jobs will be posted one at a time until we have received at least five applicants. Thank You.
