September finds its rhythm at Wainwright House. 🎻

At the heart of this month’s calendar is Strings on the Sound—an elegant evening of classical music beneath the tent, with sweeping waterfront views, complimentary wine and light bites, and a beautiful program performed by the Sound Shore Quartet.

And there is something for our littlest community members, too, with Wunderkind’s Sensory Wonders: Toddle Time and Tiny Tales—joyful experiences designed especially for young children and their grown-ups.

From sound baths, breathwork, and Yoga Nidra to spiritual conversation, labyrinth walks, and a celebration of the Fall Equinox, September offers meaningful ways for every generation to gather, explore, and connect.

🕊️ Tonglen: A Community Practice of Compassion

When the world feels heavy, gathering together can be its own kind of medicine. Join us for a complimentary Tonglen practice led by Katy Romita - a Buddhist tradition of breathing in what’s difficult and breathing out love, compassion, and healing for ourselves and others.

No meditation experience needed. Nothing to achieve, nowhere to arrive — just presence, community, and open hearts.

There are seasons for moving forward.
And seasons for turning inward.

Just after the autumnal equinox, as the light begins to shift and the natural world quietly turns toward a new season, we invite you to do the same.

The Labyrinth Within: A Journey Inward
Friday, September 25 · 12–1:30 PM
Wainwright House

Guided by Nadia Monosova, this intimate experience invites you onto Wainwright’s outdoor labyrinth—a centuries-old contemplative practice designed not to help you find your way out, but to bring you more deeply in.

Set against the quiet beauty of the harbor, we’ll move through the ancient rhythm of releasing, receiving, and returning—walking slowly, listening closely, and making space for whatever may be ready to emerge.

No destination to reach.
No answer to force.
Simply a path, an intention, and the rare luxury of paying attention.

✨ No prior meditation or labyrinth experience is needed.
Advance registration required.

As we follow the devastating news from Nepal, we are holding those affected in our hearts.

Wainwright House is opening its doors next week to offer the community space for quiet reflection. Our meditation room and gardens will be open August 31 to September 4 for this purpose.

We also hold close these words shared by Bön teacher Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche:

“May those who have passed rest in peace. May the injured recover swiftly. May grieving families find strength and comfort, and may all those offering help be guided by compassion and wisdom.”

Our doors are open. 🤍

Meet the extraordinary musicians of the Sound Shore Quartet:

🎻 Monica Gerard, viola — Yale School of Music + Fulbright Scholar, with performances spanning Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Westchester Philharmonic & American Ballet Theatre

🎻 Sergey Nazarov, violin — internationally acclaimed soloist and Manhattan School of Music graduate

🎻 Bradley Bosenbeck, violin — Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Abbey Road Studios & the Hollywood Bowl, with credits including The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago and The Gilded Age

🎻 Bernard Tamosaitis, cello — Juilliard-trained international soloist and founder of the Saint Thomas Orchestra

Together, they’ll perform Moeran, Skoryk & Beethoven under the tent overlooking the Long Island Sound.

This year, as we mark 25 years since September 11, the evening will also hold a moment of remembrance, with a reflection by Rev. Andrea “Andie” Raynor, who served as a chaplain at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11.

And your ticket includes the full evening:
🍷 Wine generously provided by Vaccaro's Wines
🍴 Light bites from Antonio’s Italian Deli & Market

An evening of extraordinary music, remembrance and community on the Sound.

Just after the autumnal equinox, as the light begins to shift and the days grow quieter, join us for a guided journey of reflection, intention, and deeper listening.

Led by Nadia Monosova, The Labyrinth Within explores the ancient contemplative practice of walking the labyrinth — not to search for an answer, but to make space for what may already be waiting within.

September 25, as Neptune reaches opposition in the night sky, the invitation feels especially fitting: What might become visible when we slow down enough to notice?

Some partnerships begin with business. Others begin with belonging.

Long before Farrah DiMaggio of Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty became a supporter of Wainwright House, she found her way here as a young mother—discovering gentle yoga, a little restoration, and a peaceful place within her own community.

Over the years, Wainwright became part of her family’s story, too. And today, the idea that guides Farrah’s work feels especially meaningful to us: finding your place is about more than finding a house. It’s about finding the people, community, and environment where you feel at home.

As we celebrate our 75th Diamond Anniversary, we’re grateful to Farrah for supporting Wainwright, and for believing in the importance of places where people can find connection, community, and a sense of belonging. 🤍

And perhaps that’s the real invitation here: to experience Wainwright for yourself, to step onto the grounds, and to discover what “finding your place” might feel like for you.

Here’s to 75 years of finding our place 🥂✨
