December is always a busy month for Rye Rotary, as it holds two special traditions: Our annual holiday luncheon with the Rye City Lions Club and the Rotary Challenge girls basketball tournament game. On the 11th, Rotarians and Lions Club members got together for a delicious buffet lunch at Whitby Castle, where we were treated to a wonderful selection of holiday music sung by the Midland School chorus! We want to extend our thanks to Rita Pisano and every member of her choir for their beautiful performance. We truly appreciate the gift of music sung by young voices that brings the holiday spirit to our group every year.🙏🎶🎄🕎🕊️❤️
On the 22nd, the Rye Varsity Girls Basketball team held their 33rd annual "Rotary Challenge" game, achieving a decisive 58-33 win against rival Harrison. This was a fifth consecutive win for the Rye girls basketball team! Rotary is happy to sponsor this special tournament game every year, and we send our congratulations to the team and their coach Margo Hackett. We wish you continued success for the remainder of the season! 🏀⛹🏻‍♀️🏆👏👏👏

Our Annual Induction Dinner was held on June 18 at the beautiful Wainwright House, where we thanked our outgoing President Cathy DeMartino for her wonderful leadership and dedication this past year and officially installed our new Co-Presidents Julie Kattan and Sabrina Murphy! We're looking forward to a new year of service, friendship and fellowship!

Our Epic Day of Service was an Epic Evening of relaxation and connection! The Rye Rotary Community Sound Bath Concert defied rain and chilly weather to welcome guests and provide not only an amazing experience, but an opportunity to raise money and awareness for Rye Youth Council. Congratulations to Rye Garnets Varsity Football player Archer Fenton and Harrison Huskies Varsity Football player Artin Balidemaj, recipients of the 2024 Rye Rotary Sportsmanship Award! 🏆🏈🎉👏👏👏 Each year, following the Rye-Harrison football rivalry game (“The Game”😊), both teams select one player on the opposing team who, in their view, best exemplified the qualities of sportsmanship during the game. These two outstanding young men were chosen, and we were so proud to honor them this morning at a beautiful breakfast provided by our friends at The Osborn Community. Many thanks to all who attended — Parents, Coaches, Athletic Directors, Rye Superintendent Eric Byrne and fellow Rotarians. Honoring sportsmanship with a pre-game luncheon and post-game award presentation is a long-standing tradition of the Rye Rotary Club. We’re happy to continue this important aspect of the Rye-Harrison rivalry game, which promotes civility and respect between our communities.

In celebration of Rotary's Day of Service, the Rye Rotary Club is proud to host a unique and restorative event: our 1st (and hopefully annual!) Community Sound Bath, taking place on May 22, 2025 at the beautiful Wainwright House! This wellness gathering is open to all and designed to bring our community together in a spirit of reflection, healing, and support. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Rye Youth Council, an organization devoted to empowering youth and promoting mental and emotional well-being. It was a beautiful day at the Friends of Rye Nature Center for the annual Old Fashioned Winter's Afternoon, where visitors of all ages enjoyed log-sawing, maple sugaring, crafts, winter-themed carnival games and more. Rotarians were on hand to serve popcorn and waffles to the hungry crowd! We love being part of this 48-year-old Rye tradition!🍿🧇🦅🎨🍁
