Interested in saving on your electric bill?

The Rye Energy Committee is exploring the best ways to help residents understand practical ways to lower electric costs, including reducing energy use, rooftop solar, and battery storage.

More than 150 Rye homes have already installed rooftop solar, some also have battery backup.

Our goal is to provide clear, objective information so residents can better understand their options. Please help us by completing this short survey.

Good news for NH Tesla battery owners. Now you can enroll in Eversource’s Connected Solutions program and earn payments by allowing your battery to supply power during peak demand events.

Connected Solutions has been available in MA and CT and is now launching in NH. Eversource estimates average annual payments of about $1,125, depending on battery size and performance.

Other battery brands listed on the program website are expected to become eligible over time.

If you have solar – or are considering it – and have questions about battery backup, contact the Rye Energy Committee at [email protected]

Rye Energy Committee Members Wanted
The Rye Energy Committee is seeking additional members to help us carry out our charter to advise the town and residents on reducing energy use, lowering costs, and planning for the future.
Our recent work includes converting municipal lighting to LEDs, securing grants for solar on town buildings, and providing public education on energy efficiency and savings.
We are working on an initiative to help residents evaluate solar and battery options to lower their electric bills. We need new members to help with outreach and public information sessions.
No technical background is required, just an interest in reducing energy costs and improving resilience matters. The committee meets monthly on the first Tuesday.
If interested, attend a meeting or contact us at [email protected].

There have been some changes at the Rye Energy Committee. Our co-chair, Howard Kalet, was elected to the Select Board and so has stepped down, and another member has moved out of town. So now we’re looking for residents to join the committee. If you’re interested in learning more about our upcoming activities, please
attend our next meeting at 3:30 on April 7 at Town Hall.
