The Rye Sustainability Foundation is dedicated to promoting sustainability through education, local initiatives and strategic partnerships.

We help protect natural spaces, plant native trees and pollinators, reduce waste, and transition to clean energy. The Rye Sustainability Committee is a ten-member group of volunteers tasked by the City of Rye's City Council to implement the Rye Sustainability Plan and address significant environmental issues in our community. Rye's unique position as one of Westchester County's most desirable communities depends on its citizens - with the guidance of the RSC - to preserve its open spaces, maintain a clean and attractive shoreline, and promote a healthy environment; all while ensuring economic growth.

THANK YOU wildplaces & cornellbirds for this important alert!! Migration Alert: Over 443 million birds are forecast to fly across the East Coast and eastern Midwest tonight. To help birds make their journey safely, turn off all off all nonessential lights from 11 PM
to 6 AM to keep them from becoming disoriented.
Make windows safer with bird-friendly treatments to prevent collisions. More than a billion birds die in glass collisions every year. Learn more about migration and sign-up to get alerts through the link in our bio:

THANK YOU TO RYE’S STEVE OTIS!! New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has officially signed legislation A.2657A, which offers incentives to commercial lawn care companies to purchase electric mowers. The new law, which Rye resident and NYS Assemblyman Steve Otis (NY-91) originally presented to Hochul in March 2026, establishes a statewide rebate program to help local landscaping businesses switch to electric lawn equipment by reducing the cost of replacing gas-powered equipment.
