SOUL RYEDERS

SOUL RYEDERS All contributions made to the Sole Ryeders Fund at FJC are fully deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS, as FJC is a registered 501(c)3.

SOUL RYEDERS® provides personalized resources, innovative programs and community support to anyone in the New York Tri-State area impacted by any type of cancer. THROUGH OUR VARIOUS ACTIVITIES WE:

Assess unmet cancer-related needs in our community and develop programs to address them

Award grants to support initiatives at other local cancer-related organizations

Promote cancer awareness and

prevention

Provide individualized resources and emotional support for those in our community diagnosed with cancer

Offer a variety of community service opportunities for all who want to get involved

HOW WE RAISE FUNDS:

With the help of our children, friends, family, and neighbors, we spread the word about our mission and raise money for our various programs. Our fundraising activities include seeking personal donations for our annual participation in the 2-day 39 mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, securing sponsorships from local merchants, and organizing a wide range of fundraising events. The Sole Ryeders Fund is maintained at FJC (www.fjc.org), a foundation of charitable funds which provides comprehensive management of charitable dollars and giving. WHERE WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

“I have lived in the United States for just a year and lived in London and Australia for 10 years each and never felt as taken care of by any community as I do through my connections with Sole Ryeders.”

“I feel like crying. Your help and patience went far beyond anything I could have imagined. Thanks for all of the advice and resources you shared. You made my day more than a little brighter--you made my life much brighter!!”

“Just wanted to thank you so much for today. Losing ones hair shouldn't matter, but, frankly & vainly, it does. You made such a difficult process so intimate and special. I didn't know what to expect and how it was going to turn out & I am happy to say that I felt so relaxed & comfortable when you were helping me.”

National Cancer Survivors Day 💪🏻✨

Every day looks different for someone living with cancer and often means facing a wide variety of challenges.

Our goal is to get to know you, understand what matters most to you, and find meaningful ways to help you reach your goals. We aim to bring a sense of calm to the chaos, and offer guidance to help you regain a sense of control and identity.

For many of our clients, reclaiming control means returning to activities that bring them joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Here are a few of our amazing clients who joined us last month for our annual Half Marathon & 5K, a powerful reminder of resilience, determination, community, and what’s possible with support along the way.

We are incredibly proud and inspired to be part of their experience!

Each week, our live virtual Yoga4Cancer (Y4C) classes provide our clients with a gentle, supportive, compassionate space to help reduce stress and anxiety, restore strength and flexibility, and manage cancer treatment side effects.

Led by certified Y4C instructor Shannon DiNota, the classes are designed specifically for individuals during and after treatment, offering healing movements with modifications and pacing as needed.

“Y4C classes provide me with the camaraderie and much-needed direction in working out my physical, mental, and emotional kinks. I appreciate how relaxed I feel after our sessions. Thank you!” - Y4C Client

A huge thank you to Katy Romita, Founder of One Small Stone, for leading such an energizing, heartfelt, and therapeutic Restore & Reconnect virtual workshop for our clients today!

Through creative art exercises, participants were able to slow down, reflect, express themselves, and connect. Seeing everyone explore their creative side, share their thoughts, and uplift one another was truly inspiring. 💙

We are so grateful to Katy for creating such a warm and welcoming environment that encouraged creativity, vulnerability, laughter, and healing. ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined and made this workshop so special.

Behind every sponsorship, there’s a story.

For some of our family sponsors, supporting this race is a deeply personal way to honor and remember a loved one lost to cancer. For others, it’s about giving back to a community they care about and making a difference close to home. But for every sponsor, it’s about being part of something meaningful. Something hopeful.

The event is more than a Half Marathon & 5K. It’s a community showing up for one another with hope, remembrance, strength, and purpose. To all of our family sponsors: thank you for your sponsorship. Your dollars power the work that we do for our clients every day. Thank you to the and families.

Fundraising isn’t over yet! You can donate through our website - https://www.zippy-reg.com/fundraise/2370 - in honor of a loved one or to support an organization doing meaningful work for people in need.

It takes a village to bring the SOUL RYEDERS Half Marathon & 5K to life.

From the volunteer lunch and pre-race coffee to the finish line snacks, medical tent, flower arrangements, clean-up services, and the ads that help spread the word—so much of race day is made possible by generous community partners donating their time, services, and resources.

By providing these resources free of charge, they allow us to direct more funds toward our mission while creating a memorable experience for every runner, walker, volunteer, and supporter.

We are deeply grateful to:
🩺 White Plains Hospital for staffing our medical tent
☕ Starbucks Rye for the hot and cold coffee
🍌 Wegmans for post-race snacks
🚛 Anchor Carting for their dumpster services
📣 Inspiria for ads at the City Center Mall
🌸 Gina for the HOPE tent flowers
🍕 Pizza 2000 for the volunteer lunch
Thank you for being a part of our community. We couldn’t do this without you!

As many of you know, I lost my mother, Lesli Hammerschmidt, a few years ago after a seven-year battle with Stage 4 colon cancer. Her strength and grace continue to inspire me every day—both in real estate and in how I try to live my life.

Because cancer has touched my life, and so many of ours, I’m honored to serve on the board of Soul Ryeders and to help make even a small impact. This race is such a meaningful way for us to come together—whether we walk, run, or simply show up in support.

One year ago today, we partnered with Mount Sinai’s Woman to Woman (W2W) program to successfully launch the W2W wig program. In the months leading up to its launch, we trained 12 fabulous W2W Wig Advisors to assist and support patients in finding their perfect wig.

We are excited and proud to share that in the first year of this partnership, we have helped over 60 individuals to obtain wigs, several of whom even came to the SOUL RYEDERS office with their Wig Advisor to get the “full SOUL RYEDERS experience!”

This milestone is a testament to the power of community partnerships, making it possible to reach and support those impacted by cancer in truly meaningful ways.
