Help the Ware River Nature Club create a pollinator garden in Rutland!

Please join us as we revitalize a public garden space in Rutland. The project will involve three separate phases, and we can accommodate a range of skills! Once the project is approved, we’ll schedule a weeding session and general clean-up that will include removal of some Oriental
bittersweet. We’ll need people who don’t mind doing some pulling and scraping. During phase two we’ll work on design and plant selection, identifying native plants and flowers attractive to native pollinators and deciding where to obtain them. In early fall we’ll tackle garden bed creation and planting. All helping hands are welcome!

Bringing back this post from a month ago. It's important to know that simply bringing in feeders at night isn't a good solution...bears have an incredible sense of smell and memory and will return to places that feeders have been during the day. Please consider taking your bird feeders down until the winter!

WOW! Another great turnout today for our Turtle Talk event with Wildlife Rehabilitator Kathleen Blair! Approximately 70 people joined us to learn all about turtles and took part in a fun craft activity creating turtle habitats! Stay tuned for other fun free eco-related events in the future. 🐢🐢

Today is World Turtle Day! 🐢

As we head into June, turtles will be on the move in search of nesting habitat, often traveling long distances to find suitable nesting areas such dirt roads, roadsides, and landscape beds.



All animals handled for scientific or protective purposes in accordance with respective permits.

Join us on June 6th at 11am to learn about turtles! Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Kathleen Blair will be Talkin' Turtles! She may have some special guests that will be released into the wild shortly after the talk 🐢🐢🐢

This is a free event geared towards elementary school-aged children, but all are welcome to join! There will also be a fun art activity 😀
