One of our newest members, Chris Poirier, is stepping up this Thursday, to talk about comics. That is no joke! He is actually giving us a preview of his business: Green Mountain Comics.
Here is some background on Chris. He has quite a resume.
He recently accepted a position with the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) where I will serve as the Office Administrator overseeing aspects of The Hub Coworking space and StartUp Rutland.
Most recently, I served as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer (CSMO) at Comix Wellspring, where I helped lead the company’s evolution from an industry-leading comic printer into a global print-tech engine for indie creators. In that role, I shaped and executed marketing strategy across brand, growth, creator engagement, partnerships, and revenue development, helping more artists bring their worlds to life and connect with the tools, partners, and audiences they needed to scale.
Before Comix Wellspring, my career spanned comic book retail, esports nonprofits, tabletop events, comic conventions, and creator-driven media. Across those spaces, I launched and scaled programs that brought people together, produced hundreds of gaming events, helped bring convention floors to life, and built inclusive spaces where fans, creators, and communities felt at home.
From founding Columbus Got Game (a non-profit focusing on providing a safe space for youth evenings and on weekends), running operations for Ultimate Comics, the largest comic book retailer in North Carolina, to supporting major conventions like NCComicon, Oak City Comicon, and Greensboro Comicon, to co-hosting The Pull List Podcast, my work has always blended marketing, community management, operations, and fan-first storytelling into experiences that stick.
I also served for four years in the Army National Guard in Maryland and North Carolina. That experience strengthened my leadership, adaptability, sense of responsibility, and ability to remain focused in complex, high-pressure environments.
Since 2013, I have also served on staff at multiple churches in roles including Assistant Pastor, Community Pastor, church planter, and other ministry leadership positions. Those experiences deepened my commitment to service, relationship-building, public communication, volunteer leadership, and creating spaces where people feel known, supported, and connected to a larger purpose.
I hold both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University, as well as a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Whether through digital campaigns, grassroots activations, creator partnerships, or community-building strategy, my focus is simple: Help creators connect, grow, and tell the stories only they can tell.
