Pine Hill Partnership

Pine Hill Partnership The Pine Hill Partnership is a non-profit volunteer organization formed in 2006 to build and maintain multi-use trails in the Rutland, Vermont, region.

Pine Hill Partnership currently maintains trails in three adjacent systems: Pine Hill Park, the Carriage Trail, and the Redfield Trails. What does the Pine Hill Partnership do?

- Working with the Rutland Recreation Department and the City of Rutland — which owns Pine Hill Park — the Pine Hill Partnership has transformed the park from a lightly used wooded lot to the vibrant city park it is today.

- Thanks to the Pine Hill Partnership, the park is now laced with more than 16 miles of multi-use trails that link to other trail systems. Every year, the Partnership coordinates hundreds of volunteers to build the flowy singletrack trails and bridges through the park and to rake, move rocks and dirt, etc., to maintain the trails.

- The Pine Hill Partnership provides many of the tools used to build and maintain the trails.

- Pine Hill Partnership obtained landowner permission to re-establish the Carriage Trail connecting Rutland and Proctor. The trail roughly follows the route of an 1800’s wagon road. The Carriage Trail opened in 2014.

- Pine Hill Partnership was approached by a landowner adjacent to Pine Hill Park and asked the Partnership to oversee the public use of the Redfield Trail system. The Redfield Trails opened to the public in 2015.

- The Pine Hill Partnership provides members with maps of Pine Hill Park, the Carriage Trail, and the Redfield Trails. Why join Pine Hill Partnership?

- Every week, thousands of people come to Pine Hill Park in Rutland to hike, walk, and mountain bike. With such heavy trail use, the system requires regular maintenance and upgrades. Membership money and funds raised by the Pine Hill Partnership are used to purchase new material (gravel, wood for bridges, signs, etc.) and trail-building tools, as well as to promote the park.

- The Pine Hill Partnership believes that it is important to build and preserve our regional trail networks so that Rutland-area residents and their visitors have access to healthy outdoor activities and adventures. Pine Hill Partnership members help create the trails and keep them in good shape for everyone to enjoy! How much does it cost to join the Pine Hill Partnership?

- Membership costs $25 annually. Your membership is tax deductible.

- If you would like a Pine Hill Park t-shirt, membership costs $50.

- More information at: www.pinehillpartnership.org

- Donations of any amount are collected at the Tin Man at the Pine Hill Park trailhead.
