Heritage Family Cares 4 You

Heritage Family Cares 4 You is a separate, independent legal entity, incorporated in Vermont and operated by Heritage Family Credit Union members.

Heritage Family Cares 4 You (HFCares4u) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable foundation established in 2019 to support charities in communities along with the Heritage Family Credit Union branch footprint. Heritage Family Cares 4 You (HFCares4u) was created by Heritage Family Credit Union leadership who were seeking a meaningful way to give something back to the communities that provided much to them over the years.

On our twelfth day of giving, Walloomsac River Theatre Company (WRTC) is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Heritage Family Cares 4 You.

WRTC’s mission is to embrace and enrich community diversity among the performance arts and promote accessibility and inclusivity for artists in Southern Vermont, the Berkshires, Rensselaer County, and other local areas.

WRTC strives to expose local communities to educational opportunities through performance art that both highlights and enriches local artists of all kinds. By collaborating with artists from local and surrounding areas, they cultivate and nurture an equal opportunity for the community to engage with the performance arts.

On our eleventh Day of Giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is donating $1,000 to Southern Vermont Arts Center (SVAC).

The mission of SVAC is to promote and nurture the arts. SVAC creates exhibitions that feature local, national, and international artists on relevant topics that inspire their diverse audience. Many artists are based regionally, but increasingly SVAC is drawing artists from across the US and internationally, such as Japan, Korea, and the UK. SVAC takes a visitor-centered approach, designing gallery experiences that invite and support public engagement with the artwork.

The SVAC community includes children, young adults, full-time residents, summer residents, visitors, donors, and artists.

On the tenth day of giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is happy to present a $1,000 donation to Corey's Closet.

Corey's Closet is a non-profit thrift store committed to hiring, training, and empowering scores of young adults, all with developmental disabilities. The purpose is for them to become competent and confident members of their community's workforce and help them foster a sense of independence.

The mission of Corey’s Closet is to create meaningful work experiences for those with developmental disabilities. Therefore, we give them opportunities to learn important skills and gain independence and respect within the communities in which they live.

On our ninth Day of Giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is donating $1,000 to Black River Valley Senior Center.

The Black River Valley Senior Center provides space for members of the community to join together for socializing and companionship. Community meals are prepared and served periodically by volunteers at the Center or “to go”.

The Center also delivers Meals on Wheels to Seniors in Cavendish, Ludlow, and Plymouth. These meals can also be picked up “curbside”.

On the eighth day of giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is happy to present a $1,000 donation to the Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS).

The LVRS is a paramedic-level ambulance and rescue service serving the towns of Landgrove, Londonderry, Peru, Weston, Winhall, Windham, and Stratton.

Their mission is to help the members of their community when they need them most – arriving with skilled, licensed Vermont EMS First Responders (VEFR), Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT), and Paramedics at any time on day or night.

With over 50 volunteer members, LVRS operates two fully stocked advanced life support ambulances and a heavy-duty rescue truck, operated by Londonderry Technical Rescue, that is equipped with vehicle extrication tools and mountain rescue equipment. They also have a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) trailer that has supplies for large emergencies. LVRS covers 255 square miles of mountainous terrain and an average of 500 calls per year.

On our seventh day of giving, Young at Heart Senior Center (YAHSC) is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Heritage Family Cares 4 You.

YAHSC is an active, thriving, growing, and happy combination of those who are 60 and older within Poultney and the surrounding communities. Their mission is to provide a safe, welcoming environment in which seniors can socialize and share in meals and activities. YAHSC works to facilitate access to services and programs that promote wellness, successful aging, and independent living.

On the sixth day of giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is happy to present a $1,000 donation to Hampton Volunteer Fire Co. Inc.

With two fire stations, Hampton Volunteer Fire Co. provides a vast array of services to the residents and guests of Hampton. Hampton Volunteer Fire Co. is committed to preserving the lives, property, and environment of their community.

On our fifth Day of Giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is donating $1,000 to Companions In Wholeness.

Companions in Wholeness shares meals and provides a safe space, assistance, and accompaniment for people who are experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, or living in poverty.

On our fourth day of giving, Christa's Totes is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Heritage Family Cares 4 You.

Christa's Totes provides families that participate in the Brandon Area Toy Project with a reusable tote bag of healthy snacks to help supplement during the winter break from school. Last year, Christa's Totes was able to serve about 100 area families with children, along with seniors in localized housing.

On the third day of giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is happy to present a $1,000 donation to BROC Community Action.

BROC Community Action is a dynamic, efficient, and effective local organization serving Vermonters in the counties of Rutland and Bennington. In their approach to helping neighbors in need, BROC Community Action assists people in crisis and provides a sustainable path forward.

Working collaboratively with other like-minded organizations, BROC Community Action leads by example and advocates for people of low income and those living in poverty.

On our second Day of Giving, Heritage Family Cares 4 You is donating $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids. The Club’s programs and services promote and enhance the development of children by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

In addition to their home base at 71 Merchants Row, they have five other sites: Rutland Town School, Fair Haven Grade School, Castleton Elementary School, Orwell Village School, and Benson Village School, serving 200 youth over the six sites.

Heritage Family Cares 4 You (HFCares4U) kicked off our 12 Days of Giving this morning with a $1,000 donation to the Classic Hits WSYB Christmas Fund. The Christmas Fund raises money to provide families in Rutland County the extra support they need this holiday season.

Throughout the month of December, HFCares4U will donate $12,000, in $1,000 increments, to local non-profits as part of HFCares4U’s fourth annual 12 Days of Giving. The recipients are chosen by the employees of Heritage Family Credit Union, who were asked to pick a non-profit in their community that makes a positive impact.
