It's Christmas 1183 and Henry II of England joins his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their children and guests at their castle in Chinon, France. Personal and political conflicts develop, during the heat of a family squabble, Eleanor bellows, "It's 1183 and we're barbarians."

Based on the real-life discovery of the mummified remains of a 5300 year old "ice man" in a glacial field in the Alps in 1991, “100 Famous Views of Otzi” is a riff on his discovery, his significance and his murder. It was written by James Racheff, a lyricist/book writer and playwright for more than 25 years. His shows have appeared on Broadway (Oh, Kay!), Off Broadway (Imperfect Chemistry), and major regional theaters as well as internationally. This is the premiere production of his new work.

THE LION IN WINTER
Author: James Goldman
Artistic Dir / Stage Dir: Robert Cox
First rehearsal October 5 -Performances November 6-21

Seeking:
Henry Plantagenet:
King Henry II of England and Normandy, has just turned 50, an age at which, in his time, men were either old or dead. Not Henry. Though arthritis comes occasionally and new battle wounds don't heal the way the old ones did, he still is very nearly all he ever was. He is enjoying that final rush of physical and mental vigor that comes to some men not before the end but just before the start of the decline.

Eleanor of Aquitaine:
Queen Eleanor is the wife of Henry and the mother of Richard, Geoffrey, and John. Eleanor is 61 and looks nothing like it. She is a truly handsome woman of great temperament, authority and presence. She has been a queen of international importance for 46 years and you know it. Finally, she is that most unusual thing: a genuinely feminine woman thoroughly capable of holding her own in a man's world.

Richard Plantagenet:
Richard the Lionheart. At 26, he looks like his legend. He is handsome, graceful and impressive. He has been a famous soldier since his middle teens, and justly so; war is his profession and he is good at it.

Geoffrey Plantagenet:
The middle son of Henry and Eleanor. At 25, he is a man of energy and verve, he is attractive, charming and the owner of "the best brain of a brainy family.’’

John Plantagenet:
The youngest son of Henry and Eleanor, and is a spoiled, inexperienced 16-year-old boy with pimples. He is a charming looking boy in spite of them, sweet faced and totally adorable.

Alais Capet:
Alais (pronounced ‘‘Alice’’) is the mistress of King Henry II of England and the sister of King Philip II of France. Alais is exquisite; a serenely beautiful 23 year old woman who has been Henry’s mistress since she was sixteen years old.

Philip Capet:
King Philip II of France. Though only 17, Philip, who has been the King for only three years, is well proportioned and handsome without being at all pretty. His manner is open, direct and simple, he smiles easily, and is politically savvy.

For an appointment, e-mail (preferred) [email protected] by 5 PM on 8/26 stating preferred time frame. Actors w/o e-mail ONLY may call 201/723-9084 (11 AM – 4 PM only, M-F). Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits.

Equity Principal Auditions by APPOINTMENT:
Sunday, August 30, 2015
11 AM – 7 PM
Break from 5 - 6.

Sides will be provided at the audition. Please bring a photo and resume, stapled together.
