THANK YOU to Rutherford’s Girl Scout Troop 99091 for supporting the Community Chest of Rutherford by assembling “The Chests” 80th annual fundraising appeal. 15 Girl Scouts and parents volunteered to spend a Friday afternoon at Pierrepont School inserting almost 1000 envelopes containing a solicitation letter and a return envelope for donations. In all, over 3000 solicitation letters will arrive in Rutherford’s mail throughout November. The Girl Scouts are one of the 10 Rutherford organizations that the Community Chest supports with funding from the annual appeal and other fundraisers. Help The Chest support your neighbors by returning a donation when your solicitation envelope arrives. 2025 Community Chest of Rutherford Scholarship Award to Ava Albanese of Rutherford High School

The Community Chest of Rutherford has presented its 2025 Scholarship Award of $500.00 to Rutherford resident Ava Albanese. Ava will be attending Syracuse University this fall, and plans to major in Business.

With the assistance of the Rutherford High School Scholarship Committee, Miss Albanese was selected for her strong academic performance at RHS along with her active involvement in various school and community organizations. Ava is known for her willingness to help others—regularly volunteering her time to support classmates, fellow students, and faculty alike.

The Community Chest of Rutherford has been the one-stop funding source for many Rutherford organizations for nearly 80 years. Each year “The Chest” seeks town-wide donations to redistribute to representative non-profits and social services. Its motto “All funding raised in Rutherford, stays in Rutherford” speaks to it local commitment to its neighbors’ needs.

The center’s senior citizens and its Executive Director Cathy Baviello welcomed “The Chest’s ”continued support for its outstanding programs.

The Community Chest of Rutherford was honored to present a check for $1,000.00 to Cub Scout Pack 168. The simulated check was photographed during the annual Bridging Ceremony when boy and girl Cub Scouts enter the next level of Scouting America. The Chest’s donation was made to fund the activities of the boy and girl Cub Scouts.
