🐈🏡 WINTER CAT HOUSE ACCLIMATION REMINDER!!! 🏡🐈

NOW is the time to start thinking ahead to winter and preparing your winter cat shelters. When it gets cold or when the first snow starts flying is NOT the time to get the shelters out! The cats need time to acclimate to the shelters well BEFORE it gets freezing cold and starts snowing.

The shelter does not need to be fully stuffed with straw yet, but you could add some. Many cats are weirded out by new things. Getting them acclimated soon would help for them to be fully comfortable with the house by winter.

If it is a new house for them, now would be the time to pin the door opened so they can get comfortable with going in the house. This gives you time to acclimate them to closing the door fully and them getting comfortable with that BEFORE the cold comes.

It's never to early to prepare for freezing temps!

It's never to early to prepare for freezing temps!

As summer slowly draws to a close and the cooler temperatures begin to arrive, a whole new set of worries comes with the changing seasons. 💔🐾

As animal lovers, we spend the hot summer months worrying about thirst, heat exhaustion, dehydration, and making sure our animals have a cool, safe place to escape the heat.

And then, almost overnight, those worries change.

Now we worry about the animals who live outside. We worry about them being cold, about finding shelter, and about whether they will be able to find enough food to survive the long, cold months ahead. We worry about the ones who have no one looking out for them.

Because when you truly love animals, you're sad every season. ❤️

There is always another little face to worry about. Another life depending on someone to care enough to notice, to help, to feed, to provide shelter, and to make sure they don't have to face the changing seasons alone.

So as we say goodbye to summer and welcome the cooler days of autumn, please remember the animals who don't have a warm home to go to. If you see one outside, don't assume someone else is caring for them. Put out some food. Provide shelter if you can. Offer a little kindness.

Sometimes, something as simple as a meal or a warm, safe place can mean the difference between life and death.

If you love an animal, you worry every season. And that's because their lives matter to us all year long. 🐾❤️

When you find a mother cat and kittens outdoors, the next steps you take can make all the difference.

Rather than bringing them to a shelter, which is a high-stress and risky environment for an already hard-working mom, Leave Them Be.

You can help support mom with nutritious food, plenty of water, and a shelter where she can feel safe as she raises her kittens.

⌛️UPDATE 9/2/26: We had MANY callers on September 1, and all available spay/neuter appointments for October have been booked. Try calling again on Thursday, October 1, for November appointments. Thanks.

☎️Did you call the REASON Careline only to receive the message that all available spay/neuter registration appointments are currently booked? If so, then you waited too long to call and leave a message!! We have a limited number of appointments each month, and we answer the messages in the order they were left. To be fair, we make everyone follow the same rules as outlined when they call our Careline. When the last available appointment for the current month is scheduled, we don't accept new messages until the beginning of the next month.🐶🐱
