Our dear friend Paul C. Gilroy, of Maryland, passed away January 19, 2025.

Paul was passionate about all poultry and waterfowl and deeply intertwined in our community. As a long time APA and ABA judge, he visited, has been a part of, and has judged many shows. He was a lifetime member of the Virginia Poultry Breeders Association - VPBA and served as our Show Superintendent as well as the out-of-state representative.

In recent years he had found great joy in judging the Showmanship during our show where he could work directly with the youth. He was dedicated to the education and preservation of standard bred poultry and was committed to providing guidance and sharing the knowledge he had.

At the shows he was always zipping around on his scooter with a box of birds on the front of it or just in his basket with his hand over it. Always smiling.

Paul was also a member of various other clubs. The American Brown Leghorn Club was one he made sure held a meet during our show. He was also excited about the Nankin Group of America. These and many other breeds were important and he was always happy to discuss any of them.

Paul had a career outside of the poultry world. But it was the poultry world that brought him joy. We will leave the work at work and just enjoy the poultry world he loved as we remember him.

Paul also had a very special sidekick, his granddaughter, Fawn. Paul loved her dearly and their bond was very special.

We wish to offer our deepest condolences to Paul's family and friends and our entire community. We invite you to drop pictures, stories, and special memories in the comments that we may take a moment and celebrate Paul's life together and create a collection for his granddaughter.

*We do not have knowledge of any plans for service arrangements at this time. Should we be made aware and the family choose to make it public, we will share. We will honor the wishes of the family.*
