Rotary Club of Ruston members volunteered their time to help sort some of the items that have been donated to the Ruston Community Christmas for their Christmas in July event tomorrow. We were also able to donate some items to help with the event as well. This is such a great opportunity to provide an opportunity for kids to be a part of something that they normally wouldn’t be able to.

We had another informative speaker this week. Taylor Johnston with AE Phillips came and spoke with us about the veteran program that they have at the school. As a veteran, Taylor is very passionate about this program. They’re currently seeking sponsorships to fund scholarships for kids that have a desire to go on their trip to Washington DC. Please reach out should you have a desire to support them.

This week we had Jerrod Baugh the Bearcat Athletic Director and Head Football Coach come and visit with us about Ruston High athletics and their upcoming football season. He seems enthusiastic about what we will see from the Bearcats this year on the field and the coaching staff with some past coaches returning. He spoke highly of the hard work that the young men have been putting in during the offseason.

This week, Eric Hanna, the owner of the Gem Theater of Dubach, came and shared some of the history of the theater. It actually closed on the day that he was born! He also spoke about the journey of the restoration. We highly recommend that you follow his page to see some of the before and after pictures as well as movie times, and of course visit the theater. Word on the street is that he makes the best popcorn in the country!

We had another great meeting this week! Kris Anglin Barney, our 2025-26 President passed the gavel to our 2026-27 President, Ruby Boyte Pye! She also honored the Board Members with a personal parting gift. Kris, thank you for your willinglessness to serve our club in this capacity. You have done a great job. Ruby, we look forward to your leadership and are excited to see what all we will accomplish as a club over the next year. Ruby was officially sworn in by past president and husband, Jerry Pye.
