⚜️⚔️2025 BATTLE OF PLEASANT HILL SCHOOL DAY
For the third year in a row, the Louisiana Bushwhackers (15th LA Cav) has participated in the Pleasant Hill School Day Event held on the Friday before the reenactment. Many local schools with hundreds of school kids come out and rotate through different “stations” to learn more about the War Between the States. The LAB not only performed black powder burning action skits, but also taught about guerrilla warfare & the weapons used as well as during first-person impressions. The kids had a wonderful time. The LAB always enjoys being able to outreach with the youth.

⚜️🏴The Louisiana Bushwhackers (15th LA Cav) aka SCV Irregulars put on a show for spectators at the Battle of D’Arbonne Landing. The 15th illustrates the War on the Homefront and highlights the atrocities committed by Federal troops against Louisiana civilians & non-combatants. Many are unaware of the contributions of a detachment of Quantrill’s Raiders in Louisiana. Between Lea’s Missouri guerillas, Harrison’s 3rd Louisiana Cavalry & Parson’s 12th Texas Cavalry, they continually fought back against Blue Coat Mauraders and Jayhawkers. Driving east of Monroe toward Vicksburg, there is a lot of destruction & death buried under as well on each side of Interstate 20.

🎥VIDEO: THE GREAT BERNICE TRAIN ROBBERY
⚜️🎉CORNEY CREEK FESTIVAL, BERNICE, LOUISIANA
The Louisiana Bushwhackers did a skit called, “The Great Bernice Train Robbery.” Jayhawking Yanks were at the train depot waiting on the train to transfer army payroll up north when they got an unexpected delivery… a coffin! Instead of a dead Federal officer, as the paperwork read, it was a Bushwhacker hiding and surprised the Union soldiers. The guerillas came out of the woodwork ambushing the Yanks and took the payroll. But not before having fun with the last standing soldier in blue.

It was a fantastic time and an out-of-the-box way to get people excited and interested in the history in their backyard. We had several people who said they are coming to visit The SCV Irregulars at Darbonne Landing, Saturday, October 19 to watch the gunplay after what they experienced in Bernice. Y’all are all invited!

⚜️LOUISIANA LIVING HISTORY & THE GREAT BERNICE TRAIN ROBBERY
🎉CORNEY CREEK FESTIVAL, BERNICE, LOUISIANA
The Louisiana Bushwhackers and Willing's Company of Continental Marines of the Revolutionary War participated in a living history program at the Corney Creek Festival in Bernice to educate the public and recruit new reenactors and potential SCV members.
Participants were members of many camps across North Louisiana & reenactment units affiliated with the SCV. It was a great opportunity for the public to see a cross-section of our state’s history.

⚜️🎥REACHING THE YOUNGER GENERATION
The Louisiana Bushwhackers (SCV Irregulars) participated in the 2024 School Day at the 160th Anniversary at the Battle of Pleasant Hill. Louisiana Bushwhacker, Ron Butler aka "Buckskin Billy" talks to the school kids about the War behind the Lines and at Home. The Louisiana Bushwhackers had a great time working with the school kids and performing skits for them. It is fantastic to reach out to the younger generation about our Louisiana History! ⚜️🏴2024 SCHOOL DAY, BATTLE OF PLEASANT HILL
The Louisiana Bushwhackers (SCV Irregulars) performed skits and demonstrations on period fi****ms for local school kids visiting the 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Pleasant Hill.
In the video here, the Bushwhackers try to secure the release of one of their Ladyfolk kidnapped by the Jayhawkers. Things go bad quick, and our heroine Lady Bushwhacker gets her revenge.
Everyone enjoyed the scenarios and it reached a lot of the kids attending. They got to learn about a different side of the War and it got them wanting to learn more. It is always great to be able to reach out to the younger generation!

⚜️REACHING OUR YOUTH
This is one of the core reasons the Louisiana Bushwhackers (SCV Irregulars) exist. Reaching out and teaching our Southern youth is extremely important. It is imperative that our values, principles, and Cause are passed on to the next generation. The LAB holds the integrity of the Sons of Confederate Veterans high and passing the Colors to our youth ensures our Confederate Heritage never dies. We appreciate given the opportunity to work with our younger compatriots at the 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Pleasant Hill. Photo by Ron Byles.
