Region 8 - LSTEN - Comprised of Arkansas, Lousiana, Oklahoma & Texas
The Purpose of the Organization:
To promote and support interest in equine assisted activities for disabled children, youth and adults by acting as a resource to all members and programs in the states of TX, AR, LA, OK by hosting an annual conference. The Annual LSTEN Conference:
* Will be held the first weekend of August by o
ne of the host states of TX, AR, LA, OK.
* Promotes the development of new centers, provides continuing education units for current members and opportunities for networking.
* Opportunity for members to hear presentations from university departments, equine associations, government agencies, and community organizations that can enhance an equine assisted activities program. The LSTEN Organization Encourages:
* All members to adhere to the industry standards of Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH, Intl.).
* The collection and documentation of data to record the effectiveness of equine assisted activities for the disabled community.
* Collaborative efforts with university and medical research studies of the effectives of horseback riding and therapy for the disabled participants.
* Said Organization is organized exclusively for charitable, educational proposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 ( c ) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.”
