🐞🎨 Calling all young artists, nature lovers, and future bug explorers! 🎨🐞

Join Yell County 4-H for Creepy Crawly Creators — a fun summer workshop series where entomology and art collide! Participants will explore the fascinating world of insects while creating colorful art projects, building insect collections, learning about pollinators, and discovering nature through hands-on activities.

🖌️ Campers will:
✨ Create bug-inspired artwork
🐜 Learn about insects and pollinators
📚 Build their own insect collection boxes
🌼 Explore nature and ecosystems
🎨 Participate in fun STEM + art activities

📅 Dates: July 7th, 14th, and 28th
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Yell County Extension Office

🥪 Participants will need to bring a lunch each day.

This workshop series is perfect for youth who love:

Participants will take home projects each week and complete a special insect collection project throughout the series!

It has been a busy spring teaching Embryology in the Classroom! We visited over 20 classrooms across Pope County, giving students the opportunity to learn about the life cycle of chickens through hands-on activities and the excitement of watching chicks hatch. Thank you to all of the schools and teachers who welcomed us this spring! 🐣🍀

Our county Rice is Nice & Dairy Foods Cooking Contest will be held on Friday, May 29th at Atkins High School starting at 10AM.

The Arkansas Rice is Nice Contest and Dairy Foods Cooking Contest is sponsored by the Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation. Contestants must utilize all their creativity to enhance a dish highlighting rice/dairy.

Youth will compete in-person for the county contest. They will have 2 HOURS to prepare and cook their chosen dish for a panel of judges.

The contest is divided into 4 categories:
RICE MAIN DISH
RICE PARTY IDEA
DAIRY MAIN DISH
DAIRY PARTY IDEA

BOTH Rice Main and Rice Party will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
BOTH Dairy Main and Dairy Party will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHAT: Pope County Rice is Nice & Dairy Foods Cooking Contest
WHO: ANY students ages 9-18 (or in 4th - 12th grade) as of January 1, 2026

DAY 3: Sewing - Youth will learn basic sewing skills while creating their own tote bags to take home. We will practice measuring, pinning, stitching, and working through each step of a sewing project while building creativity and confidence along the way.

Headed to a fair or livestock show this season? Make sure your animals meet Arkansas’ exhibition health requirements before you go!

Many species need current CVIs, some require negative tests within 30–90 days, and animals showing signs of contagious disease won’t be allowed to exhibit. Requirements also vary by species, including horses, cattle, poultry, sheep and goats, swine, and more. Plan ahead, check the rules early, and help keep Arkansas agriculture healthy.
