This is just one of the MANY reasons to sign this petition.
How can we not care about our elders?? How can we not care about our loved ones??
This could have been another statistic instead of a happy ending.
PLEASE HELP US KEEP EVERYONE SAFE BY SIGNING OUR PETITION TO CHANGE THE LAWS!

I am aware that this topic is highly unpopular. Many of you are hesitant to sign a petition regarding dementia, whether it be due to fear of upsetting certain individuals or groups or genuinely believing that people with impaired memory and judgment SHOULD be allowed to drive alongside our loved ones.

This petition is of equal importance to both those affected by dementia and those who are not. Our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. If you or your loved ones ever drive on any road or highway, please consider their well-being. A diagnosis of dementia must be treated with the same level of attention as any other impairment.

It's essential to remember that dementia can affect anyone regardless of age. Although it primarily impacts older adults, its onset can occur as early as one's 20s.

Let's work together to create a safer environment for all drivers, regardless of their cognitive abilities. Sign the petition and join us in promoting road safety for EVERYONE!

We have published statistics on dementia and driving, highlighting the need to change the law to protect both those with dementia and other road users. Our findings suggest that there is a significant risk posed by drivers with dementia, and we urge everyone to sign our petition in support of stricter regulations for their safety and that of all road users.

It's perplexing why more people are not concerned about this issue, given its potential impact on public safety.

A concerned individual messaged me about their inheritance and the potential backlash from speaking out against dementia sufferers who drive. Someone else mentioned they just don’t have the time to carry their loved ones everywhere they need to go and still work their jobs. Another person mentioned not wanting to upset specific individuals, but this reasoning escapes me.

If someone has dementia, they cannot make important decisions or sign legal documents anyway. Transportation issues can be solved through DoorDash, Walmart delivery, Instacart , NACOLG , taxi services many other delivery and transportation services available including Churches offering such services.

Are you hesitant to support this cause due to your own fear of inconvenience?

Don't let the opinions of others silence you. Your voice matters, and using it to advocate for change is a strength, not a weakness.

It’s too late for us to protect my 11 year old grandson , Jase, and his mother Jennifer.
Don’t let it be too late to protect your loved ones.

Losing your loved ones, instantly, in the blink of an eye, is something you will never recover from. I know, my family and I are living with this daily.

Please sign and share this petition, and support our cause. We need each and every one of you.

Again, it is imperative that everyone step up and sign a petition to help all of us and our loved ones. From those with dementia and the innocent victims. Both sides need protection. The bill being introduced would be to protect everyone. Please sign and share before someone you love gets injured.

A Russellville family spoke out for the first time after losing Jennifer and Jase Fretwell in a car wreck.

I started this petition in honor of our lost loved ones and behalf of my brother who had the idea but is still too devastated to speak publicly. However, this issue is just as important to me that it be passed to protect those with dementia as it is to protect others like my family from going through the same thing.

If your child developed dementia (which can happen as early as your 20’s) would you allow them to continue driving knowing it only progressively gets worse , with no cure, and that they could forget where they are or what they are doing at any moment putting both themselves and others at risk?

Then why are we so reluctant to even consider or speak of it when it’s our elderly? It’s just as much our responsibility to make sure our parents, grandparents etc are well taken care of as much as it is to ensure any one of any age is kept out of harms way.

Enacting these laws will help everyone, including the family who is struggling to take keys away, by placing the “bad guy” narrative on someone outside of the home, as well as those diagnosed with dementia who have no family to step in and help.

My ultimate goal is to help protect those with any form of dementia REGARDLESS OF AGE from being a risk to themselves as well as others.

Age restrictions listed in the suggested laws/regulations are simply based upon other State laws as well as statistics.
While it is most common to develop dementia after 65 it can occur as early as your 20’s.
