Natural Holiday Decorations Workshop

Come get in the holiday spirit with us during our third annual Natural Holiday Decorations Workshop at the Noble View Outdoor Center in Russell. We'll start with a short meander in the woods to find greens for swags and other holiday decorations. New this year, we'll be trying our hands at creating snowmen and snowwomen out of varied size wood slices. Your workshop guides, Nan and Laura, will have extra greens, wood and pinecones, but would appreciate any donation of ribbon and decoration materials. Warm cider and music, as well as a campfire if it’s chilly, will be included in this event designed to de-stress this holiday season. Thanksgiving Storywalk and Activity

Join us for a guided Storywalk on the new All Person's Trail as we walk and read the story "Keepunumuk, Weeachumun's Thanksgiving Story", which takes a look at Thanksgiving through the eyes of the Indigenous People of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The Thanksgiving story that most Americans know celebrates the Pilgrims. But without members of the Wampanoag Tribe who already lived on the land where the Pilgrims settled, the Pilgrims would never have made it through their first winter. As we walk, we will learn along with two Indigenous children in the book, the story of Weeâchumun (corn) and the three sisters' role in the first Thanksgiving. A follow up craft and snack will be included. This event is free and open to all. Click the link to register.
