The Robert L. Howard Foundation, in partnership with Our Waterfront Living, is excited to celebrate our very first OWL Classroom Hero! Waterset residents were invited to nominate an incredible teacher who also lives right here in our community, and we were so touched by the heartfelt nominations we received.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to recognize a deserving educator. Reading your stories reminded us just how fortunate we are to have so many amazing teachers living in Waterset and making a difference in the lives of children every day. We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Mackenzie Steele, a Waterset resident and teacher at Apollo Beach Elementary, has been selected as our 2026 OWL Classroom Hero! 🏆❤️

USAA created this National Monument 250 that is currently set up in front of the Lincoln memorial and displaying the names of all 41 million who have served since the beginning of our nation till today. 🇺🇲

"A temporary monument in Washington, D.C., displays the names of more than 41 million Americans who have fought for the country since the Revolutionary War.

USAA said it installed the National Military Monument as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations and as “an expression of gratitude, duty and enduring commitment to those who have worn the uniform, and to the families who have served alongside them.”

🎄 We’re Looking for Our 2026 Christmas Headquarters Host! 🎄

The Robert L Howard Foundation is beginning preparations for our 2026 Christmas Program, and we’re looking for one special organization in the South Shore area to become the home of our Christmas Headquarters.

Over the past three years, with the support of incredible community partners, we’ve helped provide Christmas for more than 500 local children. As our program continues to grow, we’re searching for a partner that shares our heart for serving families in our community.

Our ideal Christmas Headquarters would provide:

🎁 A secure location to collect and organize gifts throughout the season.
🎄 A space to host our annual Christmas Family Celebration and Wrapping Party.
🎅 If available, a second room where children can enjoy crafts, games, holiday activities, and a visit from Santa while parents or caregivers wrap gifts.

We’re also open to fresh ideas and would love to collaborate to make this year’s program even more meaningful for local families.

In partnership with Our Waterfront Living, we’ll bring our community together by helping recruit Christmas Santas, volunteers, and supporters while sharing the incredible stories of those helping make Christmas possible.

Three years ago today, we lost Bobby, but his legacy continues to live on through the lives we have been blessed to impact in his memory.

Over the past three years, the Robert L. Howard Foundation has had the privilege of serving our community by helping more than 650 children at Christmas, sponsoring youth soccer teams, providing school supplies, clothing, and shoes to children in need, supporting teachers as they return to the classroom, and awarding over $15,000 in college scholarships to deserving South Shore students.

We’ve answered the call whenever and wherever our community needed us, all in an effort to preserve Bobby’s servant heart and commitment to helping others. And we’re not done yet.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our donors, volunteers, community partners, and organizations including the Masons, Gibtown Bike Fest, Rotary, and so many others who have joined us on this journey. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us serve where God has called us.

The Robert L. Howard Foundation is proud to continue its mission of giving back to the SouthShore community by supporting the next generation.

This year, we are honored to award three outstanding high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships to help them pursue their future goals. It was a difficult choice with all the great applications we received but we are proud to announce the 2026 scholarship winners:
