On May 22 families gathered for awards day in the gym at Arlington Elementary, cheering on their students with whoops of pride and a few tears. The kids were excited and full of energy, just as you’d suspect. After all, it was the last day before summer break.

But no one will return in the fall. The students will be at new schools. The staff will be in different jobs. The building will remain closed.

A special week-long celebration capped off the school’s final year, made possible with a grant from the Robert N. Veatch and Mary Lou Veatch and Family Fund.
